Monday's Press Talk

Something got me thinking just now whilst perusing the OS. For a club who have pubically belittled the local press, it's a little two faced to then be using said publication as "filler" to their own website.

Four snippets pulled from the Echo? Bit off really isn't it?

If you're going to take such a stance why not call it "Blues in the Media" or something like that and just quote BBC Essex and maybe a nod to the Echo rather than getting involved in some sort of "We hate you but will use you" stance that they're doing at the moment and just republishing the Echo's words?

I think if there's any accusation of 'using' to be levelled here then the Echo are far more guilty of that than SUFC in recent weeks. Besides, I'm a Southend fan, not an Echo fan, so any free poublicity we get is good as far as I'm concerned.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not siding with the Echo, I wouldn't even use their paper to wipe my backside if I ran out of bog roll. But, why publicise someone who is (intentional or not) trying to drag the name of our club through the mud? If the club want to teach them a lesson black them out completely, don't just say one thing then do the other.
