Mitchell Cole...

Westcliff Blue

Youth Team
See him in the crowd today with his missus. Anyone know if he is injured or just out of favour? Sorry if its already been discussed!

give mitch more of a chance imo! hes got great pace good finishing and good crossing just needs to be played more if not send him out on loan!

i feel he could be are next kightly. good prospect but to light weight with us. then well release him and he will become the excellent player he can be.

How wrong was we to release Kightly.

I always thought he was a good little player for us, and never really given a chance.

Cole will be released at the end of the season i reckon.

The best thing that ever hapened to Kightly was being released by Southend.

At times players need first team football to realise their potential. Take Freddie for example.

20/20 hindsight I think.

I like Mitchell Cole, but with the way both JCR & Gower are playing currently how does he get in the side?

How ?

He shouldnt be in the team ahead of Gower or JCR.

Best he could be is a sub, which I actually thought he was useful as at the end of last season.

Not wrong at all players like that need the rejection to make them a better player otherwise they will never do it.

Look at Eastwood he got rejected by West Ham then went to Grays and shone and we spotted him.

IMO Cole needs to bulk up a little then get a few goals in the reserves then slowly work his way into the first team.

Thing is we've had plenty of games this season where we have been chasing a result.

Cole in the situation would be useful to use as he is a potential match winner. Tail end of last season he came off the bench various times and changed a game.

Why he hasnt been used in that capacity this season is beyond me.

I get the impression that Cole is probably far happier in the stand with his missus , after all up there he cant get his knees dirty and wont have all those nasty big men trying to hurt mummys little boysey-woysey. And with all that rain yesterday he might have caught a chill and everything . As you can tell I'm no fan , he hasnt got the bottle or the will to be a pro footballer , and I would guess Tilly and Brush think the same

Same here. Not a fan at all. Start of last season in L1, I thought he showed bags of potential. But I just wouldn't care if he didn't play for us again this season, as some others who were at Barnsley earlier in the season might like to testify! He's weak and gets barged off the ball and knocked around too easily, he's easily dispossessed, he's lazy, and he just doesn't seem interested in putting the effort in. He's been given chances this season, and in the few games he played he was absolutely shocking IMO. No wonder he doesn't get a look in anymore. Wasted talent, as he COULD be excellent.

I agree !

He's got talent but he's also the only player I know who regularly takes an energy drink down the touchline to do a warm up.

he always looked knackered after ten minutes i saw him in asda few days ago, he looked knackered just pushing the trolley

He always used to explode into the game in the first 15 minutes but then give up if the right back had him in his pocket and gave him a kick, which was more often then not as the season wore on.

Exactly, which is why 10-15 minutes to go in a game, he won't be tired and will be able to skin players, creating chances for us. I'm not saying he should start, but his energy for those 15 minutes can certainly improve our chances of scoring (and perhaps conceding).
