Mitchell Cole

Bromley Blue

The artist formerly known as the_saafender
As a grays based shrimper i have a neighbour who goes to watch Grays Ath. He raved about Mitchell when I mentioned we'd signed him and said he would go onto big things. I know he does seem a bit lightweight and injury prone but like JCR I believe with some hard work in training and a decent run in the side could make the step up. Opinions?

Good squad player, wouldnt put him in first team though (Gower and Bradbury for me).

Is too lightweight, and whilst the Bluebelles come out in bikinis he still seemed to be wearing a scrarf and wooly hat when came on last week!

Do think he is good player though, willing to take on his man, loves having a defender(or two) facing him so he can run through like vs Blackpool).

Crossing can sometimes be a let down sometimes.

Overall at the moment a great player to have on the bench to run at tired defenders.

(and who could forget his goal against Col U....)

I personally think it'll be a huge step for Mitchell if we're playing in the Championship next season - I do rate him though and I really hope he can make the grade.

i think cole has potential, he has a lot to learn and needs to toughen up a bit bit he does have some talent which hopefully tilly will manage to the best out of him.

I reckon M. Cole will be our keys players in the Championship, he 19 yrs & got big future at Southend, just need a strong pre-season training then he be fine.

I hope I haven't tempt fate ....

Decent player at the moment. Runs out of steam to early for my liking and as a winger I dont think his crosses are good enough.

I also dont think he makes any contribution when he tracks back and leaves Che exposed.

Bags of potential but a long way from a starting berth behind Gower,Bradbury & JCR.

According to statski he was told if Orient go up he'll be off to Birdbrain Road come the end of the season. How true this is I don't know. I think a season's loan might be a better option for Cole and Southend United. If he does go you've gotta think McLeod will be coming in (lets hope so anyway).

I would get him on the beers in the summer fatten him up a bit.

This was a comment passed onto me I tend to take everything with a pinch of salt until I see it happen
However if we go back in for McLeod then that will leave no room for Cole

I'd love to see him kept as a sufc player but loaned out

We will make a Paul Byrne out of him yet!

Great potential in my eyes as we all saw against Col Ewe and the run v Blackpool. But still one hard tackle and he seems to not want the ball again. Needs to toughen up and maybe a loan deal for a season to a League 1/2 team would help him mature more as player.

I suspect the Championship (if we get there) may be a step too far with his limited experience. I'm in favour of the loan idea as well - he's got the potential to make it.

I think, as ever, people are writing off a player far too soon. At 19, Cole still has massive potential and he was doing well for us until he became a father, at which point he had a dip in form and hasn't really recovered since.

I disagree with the comment that his tracking back is dodgy - earlier in the season he was doing his defensive duties more than adequately and I remember on one occasion against Yeovil Kevin Amankwaah, one of the paciest and most dangerous overlapping right backs in the division, tried to take Cole on and Mitch outpaced him and won back possession with ease.

Although the possible arrival of Kevin McLeod might push Cole back in the pecking order, I still wouldn't write him off yet, particularly as: a) Cole will have the benefit of a full professional pre-season this time around and will therefore be more up with the pace of professional football; and b) Mark Gower is injury prone and will probably have another spell on the sidelines at some point.

If McLeod does sign and Gower stays fit, then I'd be happy for Mitch to be loaned out but definitely not sold.

M. Cole won't be loaned out, we got small squad & we need everyone for our first season in C............... - fcuk me, why we keep tempting fate. Let wait till we see off Gillingham & avoid defeat at Barnsley then we can start talking about M. Cole future.
