Question Miracle cure for Eczema??

Aberdeen Shrimper

The Man who sold the world
Occasionally i suffer with mild Eczema and wondered if anyone else has this skin condition and maybe has any miracle cures or suggestions of what triggers it of or makes it worse??

I've started getting it on my hands the last couple of winters - not sure if its weather-related or work-related as my job is my stressful at this time of year

I find that if i have a really stressful event/Day it seems to come out about a week late, I have also noticed that the softer water in Scotland has made a big difference as well.

Hydrocortisone cream is fine as a short term measure but prolonged use thins the skin. My daughter had really bad eczema up until this year, she's always used an aqueous cream on a daily basis with hydrocortisone cream for flare ups however in the last couple of years changed to Diprobase instead of pure aqueous which is a bit more user friendly!

I think it can be stressed induced, I used to have some outbreaks on my fingers a few years back. Although not a cure I found E45 cream a great help.

That is also what I was told, i think that anything over 1.5% can only be acquired with a prescription, but i might be wrong

Once got put on report at school for sending a christmas card to a girl that had quite bad Eczema with the heading inside saying merry Xma .

At the time i thought it was quite comical but having looked back on it with a older head realise very insensitive although i'm sure my english teacher had a smirk on his face when she handed him the card to complain , i pleaded that i was in a rush when making it and forgot to add the S at the end of xmas .

What a rotten sod i was back then !!

i was prescribed elocon (sp) and got some oily stuff to bath in. wasnt pleasant, but very useful for grease fancy dress nights on ur hair!

There's a small fish called Garra rufa that nibbles away the dead skin which is one of the main causes of irritation in eczema (and psoriasis). They've been used in Turkish spas as a palliative for skin complaints for centuries. Not really a practical option I'm afraid, but I reckon that'd be my favourite option - even if it didn't work I'd have a nice relaxing fish tank to look at...
