I honestly believe that Timlin missing is one of our biggest problems. He and Lenny work best alongside each other, and in an orthodox four man midfield, they are amongst the best pairings in the division. Both cover defenders where necessary and both track back and tackle, which other CMs don't.

We were told Timlin was two games away a little while back, but that's now passed and he's still not back in contention. Does anyone have an update on how he's doing?

Not sure. I agree he has been really missed, though. It's difficult to replace his workrate and tenacity.
Also, do we know the updates on the fitness to Bolger, Wordsworth and Weston ?

Taken from the Echo earlier this week -
“Myles is also still out but hopefully he’ll be back soon.” And another absentee – midfielder Anthony Wordsworth – is also closing in on a return from an ankle injury suffered in late October.
“Woody has been to see the specialist and he’s been given the all clear to be back on the training ground quite soon,” said Brown.
“He’s earmarked a return to playing in the second week of February and that’s great news for us all.”

There's never any mention of an injury to Bolger so I wonder if he could be on his way out as he can't even make the bench these days.
As for Timms I agree with OBL. I said myself yesterday that we're missing him out there - and no it's not just because we've lost the last couple of games. At least he shows some fight out on the pitch and is prepared to tackle - more than can be said for a lot of the team in our heavy defeats. Also he's very vocal which is something that has been sadly lacking on the pitch recently.

4 games in two weeks, not excessive I know, but the ground is a bit heavier, both for playing and training, so maybe the players are feeling it.
Barrett is not getting any younger , he said he was retiring at the end of last season.
Leonard is certainly off the pace, even the duracell bunny, Atkinson, looked out of sorts before the injury.
We have also struggled in the last two games with a lack in intelligence, poor positioning, players switching off, slack passing. This lethargy tends to indicate either fatigue, or there is something else behind the scenes distracting them. Either way, Timlin, other than being fresher (but not match fit) is not going to be the panacea.

Tims is nearly ready but has similar foot issues to Westy; some days (I am told) both can train etc and other days not - it sounds a bit like the problem Macca has just got past.
And I agree OBL we miss his work rate and leadership.

I think Timlin, alongside Leonard, Bentley and Hunt is one of our most influential players in that even on an off day they are worth having on the pitch. He'd be a massive upgrade on Atkinson in a similar system to how we've played in the last few weeks and brings a lot more to the side than Deegan does.

There's no point rushing him back if he's not fit, he's certainly not one to delay returning from an injury unless he really has to and we don't want to risk losing him long term just because of two defeats.

From what I saw earlier in the season I thought he struggled a little in league 1. But on the back of a couple of bad results, he might be the type of player that can help bring the team back up to scratch, not sure if he will be ready though. Having said that I fully back the current players to get out of this hole.

Remember he's tackle with the Orient lad in the 80 th odd minute where he broke he's leg trying to win the ball , when we was holding on for 1-0 , he does bring fight and organisation into the team. We need to see that never say die attitude towards the shirt back and back to basics with a few rested.

Been thinking this for a while. We've had a good run without him but have been fortunate not to concede at times. Also need Deegan more than PB thinks IMHO.

I thought I read somewhere that Timlin won't be back until February? Mind you don't count on my info ..........I tend to get very easily confused these days!

Timlin is vital to this side and has been since he first joined us on loan...the seasons where he has picked up injuries have all but ended our campaigns. We are crying out for him right now

Just as important where is the stomach and backbone in this team ?

Was not a great fan of Timlin early days under Sturrock but he is a clever player and makes us tick.
Would love to see stats of wins with him playing and when he is not.
Brown certainly has his share of injuries to players to deal with, in his time here.
Need Hurst and Worrall bot fully fit too and back to their best.

100 per cent agree that Timlin will make a big difference when back in the side .....he is a quality player and a far better option alongside Lenny than Worrall or Atkinson ................

I used exactly the same term for Timlin last season. He is the heartbeat of this team imo. Come back soon timmy

Yeah agree we do need Timlin back ASAP. However in the meantime I do think Deegan and Lenny could do a good job in the middle of a 4-4-2.
