benny the blue

Youth Team
Top point, very unlucky not to bring 3 back to the hall.

Strong team display and Efe fitted well into the back four with Barrett pushed wide. Looked strong in the air and crashed a header against the bar from a second half corner.

Maher hit the right and left posts with great volleys. Flavs made a top save on the line, Oldham looked certain to score from about 2 yards and he threw himself onto the ball.

Good team effort. Gray caused problems with his pace and Freddy looked dangerous every time he picked the ball up.

Southend counter attacked well and didnt really let Oldham threaten.

Top support about 500 Southend made non stop noise throughout the 90 mins.

Up the Shrimpers!

Eerrm I watched that classic match on the box later on but I know where I wished I had been.

There were 253 Shrimpers at Boundary Park according to the tannoy.

Why should I be sorry I missed the Liverpool game? Instead I saw a cracking Blues performance (the best in weeks) and a great result. Wouldn't have missed it for the world.

our site does say 353 (i only made out the 53 bit on the tannoy) but a good effort made on volume

Atmosphere was good throuoghout the match. I'm not going to shed any tears about missing the aforementioned 'classic' match, as I would much rather have been at Boundary Park than sat in an armchair!

Was staying in Wrexham with relatives for the day, so had to go back there.

i thought that too, i really like the shirt but the shorts and socks suck and dont go with it at all

Yep good performance and we should have taken all 3 points but a point is very acceptable.

How bad was the ref? One of the worst I have seen in a long time, how the hell did he not give a corner in the second half when Barrett crossed and it clearly deflected off the Oldham full back. "All we want is a decent referee, a decent referee"!

Back home by 5.30pm!!

Cannot understand why we just did not wear all red?

The referee ruined the game. His decision making was poor, he blew up for the tiniest hint of infringement and generally gave us nothing all game. I despair at the standard of refereeing in this league.

I got a little bit bored of hearing people say that they couldn't believe we are near the top of the league. Well, I am sure most of that Oldham crowd went home knowing exactly why we are top. It was quite simply the best we have played for weeks, and it says a lot for our performance that I came away genuinely disappointed that we didn't win at a club that now hasn't lost since the weekend we won at Barnet.
Well done Blues, and if we play like that every week we will be going up, no question. Obviously consistency is the key.
On the Sodje issue...I thought it was a quite brilliant debut. I feeel for Andy Edwards as he not put a foot wrong lately, but with Sodje playing like that there is simply no way to get in the team ahead of him. Despite our small squad, the quality is so good, that Tilly has created a nice headache for himself.

Don't think it's not believing, it's more not expecting. Thing is, everyone below us has 2 games in hand now.

Would rather have the points on board, than the games in hand...

It's true that Col******r, Swansea and Brentford all have 2 games in hand. IF they all won these games then we would drop down to the horrifying position of fourth.... and we would be at worst 3 points off the top.

Hudds have only one game in hand and cannot overtake us by winning it.

correct ! but your forgetting they have to win these games ! something that they are all finding hard to do on a regular basis !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! give me the points rather than the games in hand any day !!!!!!!!!!!!
