Not to be a Debbie Downer but did any one else notice that the programme had; Macclesfield (A) 0-2 instead of 2-0? Rather poor I thought.

A typo?!?! This is disgusting I hope you've contacted the club as I'm sure this will be top priority to sort out...

This must be a sign of good times if this is the only sort of thing people are finding to complain about.

No, the Southend score is always first, under the "F" column.
To be honest there are always numerous errors in our Match Day Programmes but not always as obvious as this one.

The worse I have come across in an SUFC programme was where we was playing one particular team back in the 70's and they had forgotten to change the opposition team from the back of the programme since the previous game.

A programme against Scunthorpe in the early 70's had an opposition player called Kevin Geegan, I wonder what happened to him , he looked pretty useful

According to the Macclesfield programme, a Zeppelin dropped a bomb in Southend during WW1, 1925
(maybe they meant 25 past 7 in the evening)!

our programmes have been crap for the last two seasons now, used to get one every game but dont bother no more.

Since the programmes were outsourced to O Publishing they've been littered with mistakes. I think they've finally got our squad numbers in numerical order now though!

I find it odd that in the fixtures they highlight the away matches .. seems a bit arse about face to me but hey ho

I was a printer for 22 years, when it was still a skilled industry. I printed our programmes from 1976 to the late 80's except for 2-3 seasons when the club sourced elsewhere.
In those days the club would receive a 'proof' of their submitted copy to approve before going to press. Perhaps they let the current printer proof it for them these days?.

Ah there's always something amiss - earlier this season for the Northampton game the Optima stats were for Burton Albion who we'd played in the last home game and for the entire 2009-10 season the home programmes have 'Soutend United Football Club' tagged on every page!

I write a 650 word article for each programme, I write the articles from a love for Southend, Southend United and the past and if the odd errors creep in I apologise. If your referring to the article in last years home programme against Port Vale I wrote the article which mentioned the First War Air Raid but can’t see where it states 1915 not 1925, but either way sorry for any errors.

I have passed the comments on this thread to the programme editor, and the specific point on the Macclesfield score has been amended for future issues. As with all things Southend United he does not have a great amount of help or assistance at his disposal, and as much as he would love a legion of proof checkers behind him they do not exist and although he does his best errors do sometimes slip through the net. Having said that I consider the programme improving and better than many in the Division.

My view is that if a programme is produced with the name of Southend United on it then I want to be the best production possible which is why I send in my articles in my personal attempt to improve it. Programmes have always been an important part of match days, but these days they have to compete with a host of media coverage and have become expensive and weighty and as has been said many don’t buy them these days.

If errors appear that can be amended for future issues they will be if the editor knows about them or if there any ideas or thoughts on how to improve then I will pass them on the editor.

So what’s your views?
