Due to a long term illness issue at work, three of us have been covering a piece of Scotland for the past month, and I have N.E Scotland. So I've been flying up, this week for the second time, and doing a route within 1 - 1 1/2 hours radius from Aberdeen. (With my SUFC mini window scarf proudly on display!).
Anyway, one customer I've hit it off with right from the start, in Forfar is an ardent football fan with a passion for Dundee United. However really knowlegable about footbal in general, including us!! So we do the business part of the call and then talk about football for about 10-15 mins.
As I said this is the second time up there and as I'm about to leave, he says, follow me, I've got someone to introduce you to.
I follow him onto the shop floor and he introduces me to Dave Narey, who is with Maurice Malpas! So we chat about all things football for about 20 minutes! Marvelous moment and, for me, highlight of the week! Narey's goal against Brazil in the '82 World Cupo finals, Malpas at Swindon, and Foran at Inverness, where Malpas is now asst. Mgr to Terry Butcher. Real gentlemen the pair of them. Highlight of the week!!
