Duncan Goodhew
I noticed another thread was referring to the Goat being a contender for player of the month, which I very much agree. I would like to take time out to congratulate Gower for his recent perfomances.
After he returned from that injury, he was brought on a sub a few times and looked slow, fat and very unhelpful in changing the game when we needed it. I'm not suggesting he should have been automatically match fit, but his footballing skills in general plumetted, which is not the result of injury, but instead a sign of lack of confidence. There was one particular match where he was dreadful and I remember thinking he would soon be on his way out.
However, he has totally turned it around. He has slimmed down, and even though he is still not quite the same player he was (where he cuts inside from the wing and unleashes a monstrous shot that bounces in off the bar - Brizzle Rovers one of many examples) he is no doubtedly an important member of the team. His consistent run in the team surely indicates this. Any thoughts?
His sheer determination, along with faith from Tilly, shows that getting an injury in a consistently winning team does not necessarily mean you will sit on the bench for the remainder of the season. I have taken into account injuries, but every club has the same problems, and now we are nearly at full-strength again I am interested to see how Gower performs for these last few fixtures.
