Marc Laird keen to stay at Southend United

Done very well for us good all round midfielder gets in opposition penalty area which is what we been lacking.Defiantly improved our midfield.Orient dont want him, they have let us cup tie him and having won five out of five he will not figure for them.Transfer too us be good deal all round.

Yep.
His goal on Saturday was an excellent example of what we have been missing.

“I'm really enjoying it here and I've settled in well so I would definitely be interested in staying for longer,” said Laird.

But does he mean extending the loan as I would have expected him to mention 'signing permanently' or something like that rather than 'staying for longer' ?

Whatever, there can be no coincidence with the improved results since his arrival, so lets hope that he does stay longer either on loan or permanently.

To keep him in jan and keep brit and mkandawire untill the end of the season .Then promotion is a good bet .And looking at the Millwall site there results are doing ok without him he doesnt even show in there squad numbers so maybe he could be surplus to there requirements .:winking:

I think his signing is just a formality providing the funds are there and we can ship out two or three. Very good box to box player, one minute putting a tackle in the next racing up the other end to get a shot in on goal. Seems a good character too and has fitted in very well.

Others have said it but on the basis of the games I've seen I'd say that keeping the two loan midfielders is the key to the season. Britt is very good but we've got other strikers who could slot in for him. Laird and Mkindawire have both looked class and have been key to our upturn in form.

Id be more than happy to see Freddy or Corr playing in front of this midfield if Britt was to leave.
