Man United could be sued

For fielding a weakened side against Hull

Read in The Sun this morning that Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Sunderland are threatening to take legal action.

Evans, Fabio, Tosic, Fletcher, Gibson, Nani, Macheda and Welbeck are all set to start this Sunday against relegation threatened Hull.

I honestly believe that all of the managers of those teams would do exactly the same if they were in Fergies position. My argument is that they shouldn't be relying on other teams to rescue them, and that any reserves side that United put out will still probably beat Hull

They'd get absolutely ****ing nowhere.... Fully within United's right to rest players ahead of a crunch game.

They've been ***** for a season, so to blame United for fielding a weakened side on the last game of the season is ludicrous.

Well said ESB. Man Utd rested 8 of their "first teamers" against Everton in the FA Cup semi-final and nowt was said then. They still managed a 0-0 draw with a strong Everton side!

As they said on the radio this morning, it really is a slow news day in the sporting world.

The Mirror had a valid point, who would you rather be up against, a half arsed Man Utd first team with one eye on Next wednesday and the other on pulling out of the next 50-50 to avoid injury, or A Man Utd team full of hungry young players keen to try and impress the manager and get a place on the bench for the CL final.

it will be tougher for Hull with the 1st string rested

Title won, Champions League final four days later...any manager would do the same, and as others have said a second string Man U team with young players looking to impress, will still be a very talented bunch of players

I can understand why the clubs might be upset about this, just as we would be if it happened to us. BUT, after 38 games played over the season, if any of those clubs are relegated this year, it won't be because Hull played an understrength Man United side in the last fixture.

But enough of that ******** - it's a disgwace and I hope Manchester United are docked a suitable number of points.

Can't see what the problem is myself. Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Sunderland have been fielding crap sides since the 1st week of the season.
Perhaps season tickets holders of other clubs should sue them for lack of entertainment value.

I'm mystified at just how many people still take The Sun at face value. Do they really believe it just because they've printed it?

In any case, Chelsea will also play a weakened team at Sunderland, with the FA Cup coming up, and both Aston Villa and West Ham have nothing to play for, so all the clubs concerned know it's a level playing field.

This was somehow overlooked by the paper, it seems, who instead (and not exactly for the first time) concocted a bare-faced lie just to fill their pages.

As they sing at the Stadium Of Light "Wise men say only fools rush in ...".

TBH that is still a great side. Most of them could get into a Premierleague side. Look at the side that started the game in the draw with Everton in the FA Cup.

Foster, Rafael Da Silva, Ferdinand, Vidic, Fabio Da Silva, Welbeck, Gibson, Anderson, Park, Tevez, Macheda.

I'd expect a similar line up.

Absolutely right. If the players are good enough for the squad they are good enough to play and Ferguson should do what is best for his club and not worry about others.
As you say if they go down its not down to one game.
