Maher, Newman and David Crown

Kenny

Thailand Shrimper
......all in The Harry at the moment according to my cousin (Van Whale)

I've asked him to try and see if he can find anything out about Captain Kev, Gillingham and the Moose!

I saw Maher leaving as I arrived about 14.55 in his suit and he didn't look happy! Don't know if he was popping to his car or something but he walked out and had a face like thunder.

And that was just after his presentation! Did anyone else get the feeling that it was a "goodbye"?

Kevin was in the shrimpers bar with his wife untill 6.15 pm . He seemed happy and said he should be back in next 10 days , FACT

Couldn't make game today,

Could someone explain about this presentation and how Maher and the crowd reacted please?

Was it a wave goodbye?

Simple Bish, they interrupted Alison Moyet's Blue (which was actually being played at a decent level this time, and with all the flags waving sounded great), all the players lined up by the tunnel and they gave this big spiel about Maher's 10 years, captaining the club to various successes, what a rarity this was in this day and age etc etc, and presented him with something or other (didn't see what). He was dressed in a suit and came on to receive it to what looked like a standing ovation. He didn't speak to the crowd, and that was about it really. Maybe I'm being a touch cynical, but I really felt it was a goodbye. There was no mention of any testimonial either.

I doubt if there will be any mention of a testimonial at this stage, having just completed his 10 years at the club. However there is no doubt he has earned & deserves one, and I am sure it will happen.

This situation rather mirrors what happened to Alan Moody (IIRC) when he left the club before his testimonial was granted. He did eventually get one however.

I shared a lovely car journey with kev and a few beers.. and what a top bloke!!!!!

he's staying.. he says his working hard in training.. and he is just waiting for his time, he thinks he is deserving of at least a place in the 16
