Hopefully the last Refwatch of the season ! Possibly our last League match of the season; possibly Macclesfield's last ever.
The referee in charge of tomorrow's match is first year official, James Adcock from Nottingham.
He will be making his Roots Hall debut; in fact he has never refereed Southend before, the nearest he's come being 4th Official at the televised match at Gillingham this season and running the line at Port Vale last season.
He refereed last season's Conference Play Off final between AFC Wimbledon and Luton in front of nearly 20,000.
Macclesfield fans might remember him from a home match last season when in his first ever League match, a Development (trial) appointment, he sent off three players (2 from Maccs, 1 from Wycombe) in stoppage time.
This season seems to be going okay and his 84 yellows and 6 reds are comfortably the right side of average from his 31 games including one token Championship match. I have never seen him referee so can't really say what to expect.
His assistants are the short, bald man from Colchester, John Magill and, with rather more hair, Neil Hair from Peterborough.
Fourth Officials for "matches that matter" this week are all proper referees. I use that term in the loosest sense as we have Gavin Ward who needs no introduction. If a lino goes down injured, he'll do a great job though.
Match assessor is Bill Jordan, ex-League Referee from Tring.
Elsewhere we will be looking for Darren Deadman to kill off Crawley's automatic hopes and Roger East to ensure Torquay's go west.
