Looking ahead to Saturday

Tin Bath

First XI
Another top of the table clash at the Hall, second vs third. At the end of the day the table doesnt lie and Carlisle have posted the points to sit in third place so we need to on our metal from the first whistle.

Looking at who Carlisle have played so far we are there first real test I would say, they have had some decent wins in last half a dozen games but those opponents have included, Bournemouth (away), Millwall, Chester and Gillingham (all at home). Fingers crossed they dont like the 300 mile trip south and we can put some points on the board against our rivals at the top of the table.

Lets hope we have some good home support showing up for this one

Important clash this one - and it will be a much sterner test of our abilities than Walsall were. They've not done too badly at RH the last couple of times they've come down here either - a 1-0 win in 2002 and coming back from two goals down to draw 2-2 the season after.

I don't think we've been at our best at any point this season, so hopefully we can hit our best form on saturday.

We gonna win this one, we got too many good players at this level, Macca, Bailey, Hammell, peter clarke is now coming good maybe he and AB have sussed out how to play together, leon clarke seems to be the 20 goal striker we needed and he bang in form, they wont bring many supporters down, think we gonna stuff em 1-0

Also bear in mind John Ward will have seen us up close already this season having been at Cheltenham when the Lee Bradbury show disposed of them in CCr1!

Carlisle normally take a few considering their location. They have quite a big London supporters club I think. I reckon they'll have around 400.

The Cumbrians have only conceded two at home all season, have the likes of Murphy in defence (who has recently been called up to the full Eire squad), Bridge-Wilkinson and Lumsdon in midfield and Gall on the wings / up front. Moreover, the table doesn't lie... and they're third.

That said, we've got to fancy ourselves at home, so I'm going to say 2-1 to the Shrimpers.

Wasn't that when they had lost something like 18 in a row prior to coming to Roots Hall? We led 2-0 including a cracker from Dave McSweeney before throwing it away in one of the low-points of Wignall's reign (and yes that IS saying something....).

We've come a long way since then.

Carlisle are a good side and Danny Graham looks to be one of the best natural strikers at this level. This will be a real test.

If I was to predict the result I'd say it's going to be a tight 1-1 draw.
However.... I'm bloody useless at predicting our results.

That's the one.
An extremely depressing game, and at the time I reckoned we were doomed.

Still at least we stuffed them up at Brunton Park in the return! 1st win up there in 40 or so years! :D

Thank you Leon Constantine!

Unfortunately I was on holiday for that one.
At the time I thought that result was the one that would keep us up and relegate them.

Given his start i'd be upset if he finished the season on only 20!

:hilarious:

I fully expect his scoring to slow down soon....

can't expect him to carry with that the rate he's on at the moment. love it if he could but like every striker he may go into a dry patch but we're used to that with strikers. lol.

but still his all round game is so good and he's a team player and you can see he likes setting up players. thinking in my head i think he's set up something like 4 goals since being with us. 2 in his first game!
