Loan watch 2024/25

SUFCGoals

Striker
Players out on loan as of 4/9

Step 4 -
Jack Stone (Heybridge Swifts)
Ronnie Blake (Concord Rangers)

Step 5 -
Louis Bragg (Hullbridge Sports)
Joe Poxon (Great Wakering Rovers)

Step 6 -
Thato Molefi (Rayleigh Town) - seems to have ended (only appearance was a month ago)
Olu Shobowale (Burnham Ramblers)
Obi Okafor (Barkingside)

Louis Bragg, who is on loan for the season at Hullbirdge Sports has started both of 'The Bridge's' league games this season playing the full 90 in their opener at home to Stanstead (5-0 win). Bragg was substituted during Hullbridge's second game of the season (a 4-2 win away at Halstead). Based on the match reports, no idea how he got on.

Hullbridge sit top of the Essex Senior League after two games with a goal difference of 7. Only Hullbridge and Woodford Town have 100% records.

Bragg is set to next be in action on Sunday (4th August) as Hullbridge take on Grays Athletic @ Chadfields (Tilbury) in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary round.

Youth defender Olu Shobowale (who appeared in the first few pre season friendlies) has joined step 6, Burnham Ramblers on loan.

The Ramblers ply their trade in the Eastern Counties League Division One South. Shobowale has appeared twice for Burnham playing the full match in both appearances (3-1 loss away to Hackney Wick & 1-1 draw at home to St Margetsbury).

The league is of teams from North Essex and North London. Their manager is Paul Hayes.

Louis Bragg's FA Cup season is over as Hullbridge fell expectedly to Grays Athletic of the league above. Bragg started but was substituted during the game. Former Blues youth player Bobby Unwin was on the scoresheet in the 5-1 win for Grays.

Step 5

Louis Bragg played 90 minutes donning the number 10 shirt, in Hullbridge's 6-1 defeat at home to Athletic Newham. Hullbridge sit 5th which is the last place of the play offs with 6 points from 3 games.

Louis has played four games in total winning two and losing two (very heavily).

Step 6

Since the last update, Old Shobowale has played three full 90 minutes in a row for Burnham Ramblers, firstly in their cup defeat on penalties to Rayleigh Town. Then a 2-1 win at home to Enfield Borough (who knew they had three teams) followed by another loss to Rayleigh Town, this time in the league. Burnham sit 10th out of 20 in the Thurlow Nunn First Division South.

Olu has in total started and played five matches and boasts a sin bin too (whatever that is!!).

Forward Obi Okafor has joined Eastern Counties League Division One South side Barkingside. He made his debut on Friday night as a substitute in a 1-1 draw with Hoddesdon Town and also appeared in last night’s 3-2 home defeat to Step 6 newcomers Rayleigh Town.

Step 4

A new addition to this weeks loan watch is free scoring U19 striker Jack Stone who signed for Heybridge Swifts of the Isthmian North. Stone came off the bench in the 71st minute during the Swifts' 0-0 draw away at Ipswich Wanderers last Saturday. Then on Bank Holiday Monday, Stone was introduced in the 82nd minute of their 2-2 draw at home to Witham Town.

Heybridge didn't have a game this weekend as they were already out of the FA Cup, they face Maldon & Tiptree at home in FA Trophy qualifying next Saturday. They currently sit 17th out of 22.

Step 5

Louis Bragg has made two appearances since the last update. He played 79 minutes in Hullbridge's 2-0 win away at Long Melford (who have a fairly similar looking badge to us) of Suffolk in the First Qualifying round of the FA Vase. This weekend Bragg played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss at home to Frenford in the league. Bragg had a late equaliser disallowed. Hullbridge take on Romford at home in the league on Tuesday. Sports sit 10th out of 20.

Joe Poxon made his senior debut coming off the bench for Great Wakering Rovers in the 65th minute, just a day after signing for the Essex Senior side. Wakering beat Ilford 1-0 at home thanks to a last minute penalty. Great Wakering sit 2nd in the Essex Senior League, level on points with leaders Woodford Town. GWR travel to Little Oakley in the ESL on Tuesday evening.

Step 6

Olu Shobowale hasn't appeared in any of Burnham Ramblers past three games all of which were home defeats to; Hackney Wick, Barkingside and Dunmow Town.

Obi Okafor played the first 62 minutes in Barkingsides 2-0 win over fellow Shrimer Olu Shobowale's Burnham Ramblers side last Saturday. He started on the bench in yesterday's 2-2 draw away at AS London. It is unclear whether he came on at this stage. Barkingside sit 11th out of 20 in the Thurlow Nunn First Division South. They are next in action on Wednesday night away to Basildon Town.

If you are aware of any other players out on loan please let me know! They never seem to be announced!

Great work @SUFCGoals

Noteworthy that Jack Stone is at Isthmian North level. That’s still 3 levels lower than us but that’s the level we use to send our 2nd year academy kids to. A lot of the loanees of late have been several divisions below that.

Is Eastern Counties Premier also Step 5? Do team like Southend Manor or Rayleigh town not go to that league if they win promotion from Division One South? Or do they move to Essex Senior League?
I guess the Div One South is there as there is no other step 6...it's straight from 5 to 7 Olympian Premier?

Eastern Counties Prem would also be step 5.

I **think** Southend Manor could go into either Eastern Counties Prem or Essex Senior League. I think if you’re relegated from the Essex Senior League you’d go into Eastern Counties https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essex_Senior_Football_League

Teams from Eastern Counties Prem can be promoted into Isthmian North or Northern Premier League Midlands division.
