Loan Players

Hooly

Keeper of the Lucky Gherkin⭐🦐
I know the situation is quite complicated regarding loan players. But I've just looked at the Wycombe site to see if Drewenaldo clip-clopped around on Tuesday and am now totally confused.

According to the Official WWFC site squad listing, they have 5 players on loan i.e. Williamson, Silk, Craig, Cooke & Drewe. Against Macclesfield on Tuesday they had all but Silk on from the start & he was an unused sub. I thought that 5 loanees would be outside the limit allowed at any one time or are there season-long loans that aren't included? Sorry to harp back over old topics, but I can't find one where we had the rule explained.

I'm pretty certain that you're allowed 4 at a time and 8 during a season. It might be that the PTV site has cocked up, because if you notice Steven Clark is supposedly on loan at Dagenham from us, when we all know that isn't the case!

Which I reported three days ago and I am still waiting for it to be removed.

As we speak, it's just gone.

Yes I wondered if that was the case. Having said that Soccerbase, which is usually reasonably good, shows the same 5 players on loan, but I suppose they may get their information off the club site as well.

Strange, I'm pretty certain it is 4 though. Could one of them have since signed permanently and the site has changed it I wonder?

Answered my own question by checking the Football League rules & you are basically correct with 4 & 8. They summarise as below, boring I know but it's a very slow day at work!

Reg 47.3.1 - Max of 5 loan players (either short or long term) in a squad of 16 for a match, but this includes an additional loan keeper allowed under Reg. 49.
Reg 47.3.2 - No more than 4 either ST or LT from one club to another.

Reg 48.1 Short Term Loans (ST)
Reg 48.1.1 - Up to 8 ST in a season but no more than 4 at one time.
Reg 48.1.2 - ST loans are min 28 days max 93 days.
Reg 48.1.3 - ST loan keepers can be recalled wiyhin the 28 days in "exceptional circumstances" subject to approval.
Reg 48.1.4 - ST loans can be extended over 93 day in "extenuating circumsatnces"
reg 48.1.5 - ST loans which become permanent transfers become LT loans & do not count against the ST loan quota.

Reg 48.2 Long Term Loans (LT)
Reg 48.2.1 - Only players under 23 before 30/6 prior to season starting can be used in LT loan.
Reg 48.2.2 - Up to 4 players at any time.
Reg 48.2.3 - LT loans only permitted 1/7-31/12.
Reg 48.2.4 - LT loans cannot expire before end of season & cannot be recalled unless sold to anothe club or a keeper recalled in "exceptional circumstances".
Reg 48.1.5 - LT loans which become permanent transfers pre 31/12 do not count against the LT loan quota.

Reg 49 - If a club hs it's full quota of ST loans an additional loan for a keeper may be allowed if all the other club keepers are certified unfit subject to certain other provisions.

Based on this, one of the Wycombe loan players must have signed or they've broken league rules? I think! Unless of course Drewenaldo is not classed as a footballer.
