The Watermill Wino

Coach Guru⭐🦐
Ron Martin was seen on Meridian's Soccer Night last night and was very good.
Interviewed by Andy Ford at Roots Hall Ron gave an honest and frank insight of what Southend United are about.

On Mr Eastwood he said..
" We took a risk with him last season but after 8 seconds of his debut against Swansea we saw a sound investment" he also added on the scouts looking at him and linking him to other clubs he replied,
"He is part of our plans for Southend and is going NOWHERE"

On the move to Fossets Farm he stated that it was the only way forward for the club, having a bigger and better stadium would give us the financial income from season ticket sales to compete at what ever level we find ourselves , he backed this point up by saying that year on year for the last 4 years that gates on these sales have increased 4 fold.

Finance wise he said that (even with the debt we owe ) our income is more than suffice for the operation of the club at present and added that "We are looking sign 2 or 3 players in the january window , if we can't get them on a permanent basis then certainly on loan BUT! we are looking to the former for the club.

Showing Andy Ford our trophy room , OK it's a cabinet in the corner , Ron proud as punch handed him the play off trophy and said that he wants championship football Next season 2006 / 07 , preferring as champions than the play offs. BLOODY HELL I thought , no pressure there then.
Ford asked if it was possible to which Ron said with the team that we have and theadded  players that we want to come here, I don't think we would have a problem at playing at that level.

On the Gaffer he said that ( first names only ) Steve and Paul have done a fantastic job and with our youth set up which is our way forward, bringing on new young talent should give them a few options for the future.

Andy Ford wasimpressed with the club shop and asked if the SHRIMPERS chanpaigne was his idea Ron replied "no that wasn't my idea but you have to be on top of everything in the merchandising of the club. The previous club shop was a dump and here at last we are trying to improve that situation.

As for team affairs Ron was asked if he put any imput into the team ,( what I believed to be a loaded question, Do you tell Steve who to pick and talk to the team at half time).
I talk to Steve 3 or 4 times a week and sometimes pop in the team room but the team selection and that side of the fence is the managements job. If players what to talk to me we do have a chat but thats about it.

Finishing with views of the Hall and a training session at Boots and Laces and Ron holding up a Home shirt with his name on it the feature finished.

For those who still doubt LittleBig Ron has anything but Southend United in his veins should watch it. Mind you there's no pressure on Tilly and Brush then if he wants the championship this season.

You should stay with meridian as I like you was a london viewer but Meridian seem to class us as local club and give us plenty of air time, plus we can see what bournemouth and co are upto.

As for Steve in the club shop it showed some bodies in the back ground so the answer is, probably.

Yeah I am from now on.

Even last season when we were 17 unbeaten it would be the same every week. There'd be a few seconds of action then the presenter Jonathan Wills or Matt Smith would say to Clive Allen: "What about Southend eh Clive, another fantastic win?" Clive Allen: "Yeah (add presenter name here), and Freddy Eastwood's done brilliantly for them." AND THAT WOULD BE IT!!

Now that we've hit a bad patch we don't even get mentioned. Its Meridian/Anglia for me all the way now

Thanks for that TWW. I'm not in the Anglia region so don't get to see it. All good info.

If you have Sky, you can pick up all the ITV channels, although they are not shown on your regular platform of channels. You will be able to find them under other channels in the system.

Nothing about Maher? But he's our best player by miles.

C'est la vie.

Sky is good, providing you don't mind gritting your teeth and handing over a good portion of your hard earned to the Murdoch empire.

Sky+ is the only way to go.

Typical that I thought to myself that we wouldn't really be featured all that much due to our poor run and I go and miss that!
