Do u guys listen to Sufc games on the radio? I love listening to sport on the radio to the extent that I don't even go to the loo without listening to Talksport! However, I can not listen to Sufc on the radio, it leaves me an absolute bag of nerves. I'm a season ticket holder so go to all home games and around 7 away, but I just can't listen to the other games on the radio! I listen pre match and if positive I listen post match but the bit in between no chance. Unforunately I can't go tonight so it will be Twitter following for me! Good luck to all those making the trip and let's hope that I'm listening post match tonight! Come on u Shrimpers!

Love the radio coverage. Nick & Clarky the Viking are excellent, though when the oppo have the ball near our goal, I need the re-assuring "and Bentley gathers it safely" or "and the shot is off target".

It's not a problem for me listening on the radio. As Andy T says, Paul Clark is excellent, and so is that other guy they have sometimes, is he a journalist on the local paper or something......? :whistling:

I think the coverage with Nick and Paul is excellent. Paul Clarke tells it like it is . Much prefer him to Adrian Clark.

keep meaning to try having an earphone in one ear at a game

Always listen to the away games on the radio, love Nick Alliker and Paul Clarke. Sometimes though it can make for pretty terrifying listening especially the Hartlepool game when I had my head in my hands for the last 10 minutes and chewed off all my fingernails!!

Hate listening but always do because I can't not! The coverage is really good and I've always liked Paul Clark's assessments as he always gives a very honest view.

The times either we or the home team go close and they go all high pitched and excited literally leaves me on the verge of a heart attack though!

Paul Clark is superb. So knowledgable about the game and with a good sense of humour. Can't stand Adrian Clarke. He keeps mentioning when he played for Arsenal(Reserves).
Both commentators are brilliant as well.

Agree with your comments and your answer are almost suggesting i dont like the commentary, that is not true. I think its excellent, my problem is that it leaves me needing oxygen at the end of the game! lol

I used to listen to all the matches when i could, now i just cant do it!

I have no choice. I can't get BBC Essex where I live. I have tried 765MW and have managed to hear one word every minute in amongst the interference, but that is just frustrating.

I would pay for Blues Player, but a) most games people are complaining they can't get a connection, and b) it's rare that I have time to listen if I'm not actually at the match so it would be a lot to pay for, say, one or two matches a season.

Twitter it is for me too.

Its hard, as often the crowd get excited, and you always thinks that the opposition have a gilt edged chance, when in fact they don't. Also every time they get a free kick or corner, its always more nerve wracking when you can't see what is going on and only have the commentary to rely on.

When you are watching a corner for example, when its taken you can pretty much tell even before the ball reaches the box if it looks dangerous when watching, but on the radio you have no idea until its either cleared or in the net!

I still think the commentators get overly excited when the opposition are attacking. Luckily I have not had to listen to many games on the radio this season.

Hartlepool game on BBC Essex was nearly the end of me. I was sweating like a *******.

Totally terrifying!! I have to say Jai that the tweet from All At Sea on Saturday about losing your **** was the funniest ever. Couldn't stop laughing :hilarious:

I actually think Glenn Speller is by far the better commentator over Nick Alliker. But I love Alliker coz he clearly loves Southend as much as us so he gets as excited as we do when things are going well.

I remember Nick Alliker being a regular on the supporters coaches in the early-mid 80's. I am pretty sure he used to wear eye-liner.

On holiday in Cyprus anyway I can pick up a radio commentary on the net. If not it will be blues wall watching the text.
come on you blues

if you have a friend in essex, phone him and ask him to put phone in front of radio . Put your phone on speaker - job done. low tech but works

I prefer to just keep looking on Twitter, rather than listen on radio. It's far too nerve racking - especially for a game of this importance!
