Lewis Hunt

DTS

The Business
I know Juppy has taken a lot of stick from all quarters and a lot of people have called for Lewis Hunt to replace him. Well last night those people got there wish.

I personally felt Hunt was well of the pace. Gave away a clumsy pen which I have just watched on sky sports and then went awol when their to**er headed in for the 2nd.

Personally would like to see Jupp back as felt Hunt looked frail in defence and offered no support to the attack. No offence toas Hunt did his best and made a few good tackles but I feel he is more of a central player.

Actually, penalty apart, I thought Hunt was solid. He made some fine tackles and headers. Granted, he is not an overlappiong full back, and we lacked width last night but that isn't Hunt's forte.

It's the left back slot that concerns me.

BBC was pretty sure it was Maher who gave away the penalty. Surely it's not like you can get the two mixed up (unlike Gower and Smith of course)

Definitely Hunt.

If you're referring to BBC Essex with this comment, then I have to set you straight. After listening back to tapes, we found that Nick Alliker called it correctly - Hunt giving away the penalty, not Maher.

Cheers

Have to agree with fbm we looked a lot more solid down the right side with Hunt at right-back. I thought he had a fine game last night, and with regards to Jupp there is no comparison IMO. The one thing that can stop us gaining promotion this season is our defence, we certainly have a strong midfield and a prolific strikeforce. Me personally I'd like to see Eagle in for Spinner at the back but Hunt is definitely a huge improvement. Also special mention to Che who I thought had an excellent game last night.

Can't agree on that bit. He was ok, but got caught out for the second goal.

The midfield didn't really perform last night. We were short of width and it showed. Maher was off colour and Bramble was still at home I think.

In all fairness to Bramble, on the wing isn't his natural position. Though I do agree some of the mistakes he made last night were school boy errors.

He did yes but IMO Bart was also caught out as for me a keeper of his size should be able to deal with that cross. I thought Maher played pretty well last night, especially first half when he ran the game for us.

Nah, bbc.co.uk.

I'll go check to see if it's still like that....

"David Hunt had been upended in the box by Southend skipper Kevin Maher."

does kind of imply Maher.
