Serves him ****ing right imo. greedy *******
your comments are a little inacurate
Most football fans try and do the 92 clubs as supporters but Leon has really taken it to a whole new level.....
Not quite. He decided to **** off to Peterborough even though we offered him a two year contract. It was cited that the reason was money. therefore, greedy *******! obviously if i was a pro footballer, i'd do the same, but as i'm biased towards SUFC, he is a greedy judas imo!! :)
As I recall, he was offered less money than Drewe was on, after having just bagged 25 goals the previous season. The rumours were that Drooo was on £900/wk, and Constantine was offered £700/wk.
If that's not tantamount to being told to p*ss off, I don't know what is. I don't blame him one jot for signing for Posh.
Tilly reckoned, however, that we could do without him... and, since we promptly went out and signed Freddie, I guess Tilly was right!
;)
I am mystified why anybody should begrudge a lower league footballer when they take the best deal available. Their careers are very short and the wages are not exactly comparable with a Manchester City target - they have to take what they can, when they can. As fans, we are loyal to our club, but what loyalty do we have towards players? The players have to be loyal to themselves and their families. Can you imagine telling your missus that you're taking a shorter term contract on lower wages because of your loyalty to the company? You would find yourself in the spare bedroom with an old porn mag PDQ.
I don't extend this to the players earning millions - they are stupidly wealthy and can afford to think of abstract concepts like loyalty, but I can still understand why they would always go to the highest bidder.
I'd be hacked off if I was offered less than Drewe, but no way should he have been on more than Godlondonblue said:Not entirely true. He was offered less than Drewe and Tes Bramble.
I think I'm right in saying Posh offered him £2k a week, so I don't blame him for going to London Road either. I believe our offer of £700 a week was his basic wage but with a hefty goal bonus thrown in.As I recall, he was offered less money than Drewe was on, after having just bagged 25 goals the previous season. The rumours were that Drooo was on £900/wk, and Constantine was offered £700/wk.
