Leon Constantine

Why?!?
I thought he was doing well at Northampton?
He is a good player, maybe a bit past it now but his attitude cost him at many clubs, especially us. Did well for us, was it 24 goals he scored in a bottom half division 3 side?

He was out of favour at the Cobblers. I read somewhere that he was booed by a section of the home crowd in a game about a month ago and he's barely figured since.

The WORST player I've seen int the 14/15 years I've been going.

Good riddance you useless tosser.

One of the worst I've ever seen. He never looks interested, offloads the ball to someone else at the earliest convenience - and the big thing that matters, two goals in some 27 or so games. He's awful.
Bit harsh. I though he was quite good when he was here but agree that he looks uninterested

One of those players who at his peak is a great game but before and afterwards is quite average

i was annoyed/upset that he left us..thought he could have been a 'hero' and gone down in folk-lore..but it wasnt to be..

Greed...(see references under Bailey and Fry)

I remember reading that he regarded himself as a CCC level striker and was disappointed he'd never got the chance to test himself at that level.

If he'd stayed with us, he'd have probably made it. Instead he went to Peterborough and Torquay, both relegated to L2, Port Vale, Leeds who bombed him out before reaching the play-offs, Northampton who were nothing special and now Cheltenham who will probably go down aswell.

To be fair to Constantine it wasn't really greed. It was fairly well documented that he was one of the lowest paid players in the team when we signed him and word was that the new contract we offered him wasn't much of an improvement. We offered him a new contract in the same way that we offered Darryl Flahavan and Wayne Gray new contracts - if they sign then great but if they go elsewhere then no big loss.

Despite all the goals I never got the impression that Tilly really rated him much which was why he was usually on the wing whenever two of Dudfield, Broughton or Bramble were available.

fair point...

which then re-opens or asks another question..can/does Tilly recognise a good striker when he see's one?...discuss...

I don't think that it was his ability that Tilly had an issue with but his attitude. The one thing that Tilly won't abide is a disruptive influence unsettling the team, which is why Leon C. was effectively shown the door.

I think he can, yes. Constantine was ultimately replaced by Freddy Eastwood so I hardly feel that we can complain.

We picked Leon Constantine up on the way to the game and chucked him at the back of the bus. When I saw him at the services I thought he was a geezer who was there to clean cars.
Not much has changed then
