Man in charge of Saturday's early kick-off at Leicester is Carl Boyeson from Hull. He is a reasonably experienced lower division official in his 7th season and will be officiating his 7th Southend match. So far we have won 2, lost 3 and drawn the other. His last Southend match was the 4-3 defeat at Hartlepool last season.

He has hardly used his cards this season with 25 yellows and no reds (oh dear!) so far, and 8 of those yellows came in one Leeds match.

I've always thought him to be no better than average.

Assistants are Messrs Kendall and Murphy from Luton and Nottinghamshire respectively with M. Sutton from Belper on 4th official duties.
