Leic v Essex

Yorkshire Blue

After rain prevented play in the first two days, I see they are finally playing.

I expect we'll see both sides forfeiting innings, and turning it into a one inning game.

Interesting team selection for Essex. No Foster, so presumably Pettini keeps.

Only the 8 bowling options with Irani unable to bowl these days.

M L Pettini, V Chopra, R S Bopara, R C Irani, R N ten Doeschate, J D Middlebrook, T J Phillips, G R Napier, Danish Kaneria, A Nel, A C McGarry

Christ that's a long tail....

Fozzie's got the flu.

Reasonable start by our guys, Leics 75-3, 2 wickets for that fearsome opening bowler of ours, Graham Napier !

I'd hardly class McGarry as a bowler.

Richard Clinton handy economical medium pacer, would fit well into the Essex side.

Hmm, not handy enough for Essex to have retained him.

In 39 matches before this one he has taken 2 wickets, whilst going at an "economical" 4.72 an over.

Essex, who have a major injury crisis with I believe 5 bowlers out, are still managing to field nine players with better bowling records than him.

The traditional 100 partnership for the 8th wicket is up.

This probably boosts Essex's chances of winning, as if we had bundled Leics out too cheaply they wouldn't have forfeited their second innings.
