Leeds United

I know this is not exactly SUFC related, but it certainly impacts us. Leeds United have admitted that they named 6 loan signings against Burnley, with a league limit of 5, so they have broken FA rules!!

Does anyone know whatthe punishment is meant to be?

Points deduction anyone?

Probably a fine & POSSIBLY a 1 or 2 point deduction. If Leeds have admitted before being discovered, then the League MIGHT NOT be as harsh on them.

They lost the game anyway so the sensible decision would be a small fine. Hopefully the FA will bludgeon ahead in their usual nonsensical manner and deduct a load of points.

They will be fined, I don't think there has been a previous precedent for this.

As a matter of interest I thought there was a limit on the number of loan players that a club could take over a season, and thought it was less than 6. Can anyone enlighten me?

Personally for me, it is cheating whether intentional or not. Think it deserves a points deduction myself.

Cant remember who but a conferance team fielded out smeone who wasn't allowed to play(as he wasn't registered) and the points they had won in the team they had deducted. If this is the case they will not be duducted any points. It shall be a fine i believe.

Didn't we field someone we shouldn't have a couple of years back? A keeper, if I remember rightly?

EDIT - Andy Petterson, thats it.

If it was us it would be a points deduction but its not its Leeds and Ken Bates they will get off with a fine.
We all know there is one rule for the bigsclubs and one for the small clubs.

You only have to look at what happened to Spurs a few years ago and compare with what happened to Swindon. Both found guilty of similar offences. Spurs were docked 12 points and thrown out of the Cup. They appealed got everything back. Swindon were thrown out of the old 1st Division were demoted to the 3rd Division. They did appeal and were put back in the 2nd Division. Sunderland another big club were promoted in their place.

Local radio in Leeds is suggesting a small points deduction is possible/likely according to the local Leeds fan.

Maximum on loans as far as i'm aware is 4 season long loans, 8 loans in total at one time.

maximum 5 loans in any one squad is the regulations breached in this case as there were 6 in the squad but only 5 played

The only precendent is inelegeble players, so this is different.

Wise has said that there are "mitigating circumstances" I presume he lost count........

Personally I reckon that the unused keeper who was on loan was cover for injuries (or thtas at least what the excuse will be) so a small fine

You are right - his name was Eric Steele!!!

brilliant news lets hope they work on precedents then! We could see ourselves slide right past leeds without having to do anything!

but i think with tamworth (and altringham), the ineligible player played for a number of games and the team won quite a bit, so the docked the points that were achieved... because leeds did it the once and they lost, i doubt they will have points docked.. however it would be nice if they did!
