Post-Match Thread and Ratings Leeds United 2-0 Southend United

A game we deserted to get a point out of. Both teams were poor and the replacement of the ineffectual Beckford was the turning point. 6s all round for our guys with Herd and O'keffe looking the best of an average bunch. How different it might have been he we'd taken the at the end of the 1st half.

I think the response rate on this thread adequately sums up everyone's feelings right now!!!

i lose all sense of hope after every loss, but i really think we are gonna sneak out of this by the skin of our teeth.

3 points tuesday would be a nice start :support:

p.s. the hope comes back with the more i drink ;)

Loving the sentiments but I can't see it too many chances to get out of it not taken and too many inadequate players for the job in hand.

I went. Leeds were obviously the better team but I thought we put up a decent performance. Much better than I had feared beforehand. No-one was outstanding and no-one disgraced themselves. We do look desperately short of cutting edge upfront though.

Ratings
- players 6
- referee 7 - never really noticed him which is usually a good sign
- southend fans 8 - good support throughout
- leeds fans 4 - very tame and quiet atmosphere - the quietest 20k plus crowd I have witnessed since Sheff Wed away in Championship

CBI, what was your take on the red card that wasn't shown. 20 mins against 10 men, we might have been able to snatch a point....

Er... you will have to remind of that incident. I don't recall any refereeing outrages. FWIW I don't think we would have been able to pull a goal back in last 20 minutes even against 10 men.

Bad tackle by Bradley Johnson on JFC. According to a BBC Essex (not the greatest opinion admittedly) it was a stonewall straight red, but he only got a yellow for it.
