League Table

Saw the league table this morning and too me, you could end the league now and it would look right. My tip for promotion and maybe the title was Macclesfield. Brian Horton is a top manager and he will get them playing such a way that they will easily get out of this division. Same with Ian Atkins at Rovers who have brought in some very good players.

At the bottom, Shrewsbury, Chester et al look like they are bottom clubs - along with us and Notts County.

Why do we get so carried away thinking THIS will be our year?! I know its only 3 games in, but already people are slagging off the team - even though the same people were saying how good this team was pre-season.

I think its the same old Southend. Put Prior, Jupp, Maher, Gower, Dudfield, Gray in any other team in the division and they would shine. Why not for us? In fact, those (and maybe 1 or 2 others) would walk into ANY league 2 team, so why dont they 'do it' for us???

Worried, but a long way to go!

Give it a chance. Last season we heralded the Wignall revolution and after a few bad results we were talking about the team needing to gel and then all would be well. Tilly got the team to gel but now we are back to square one with a defence that needs to establish its partnership and understanding. They are top pros and will get hold of it. My prediction is that you will be eating humble pie. Very soon.

Agree there.

Our fans get on the players backs as soon as SUFC don't live up to expectations after 3 games.

Come this time next year we will be playing Colchester in League One...Unless Colchester get relegated

Why do we get so carried away? Because we just really really want the team to well so much. Even thought the past would tell us different we still hope that Southend can play well, get promoted, have a good cup run.
Every year we hope its our year, it just seems people are already on a downer a bit sooner this year.

Totally agree, Horton has done very well at Port Vale and seems to be doing the buzz for Macc, shame no one sees it though !

Finished off last season in great form and some excellent buys.
I did mean Macclesfield, and what is slightly worrying we have now only won one of the last ten league games.

IN regards to who's gonna win the league/get promoted, despite their early season form, I sincerly hope that Bristol Rovers do not go up or win the league!!

Personally, I have every faith in Tilly, Brush and the players to turn this poor form round and push us well away from the bottom of the league. Maybe the promotion push that we were all hoping for is not as realistic anymore, the very poor start it may be difficult for us to get promotion rythem although it could still happen at a push, but I'm sure we could in time get into the top half.

Cambridge next, lets hope the players can show the home crowd how they can really play and not reproduce the sort of performance witnessed in the Cheltenham game (its the only game Ive been to so far so I wont comment further than that), and also the home fans support the lads til the end.

COME ON YOU SHRIMPERS!!!
