i know football is about iff's, or's and buts. if we would have held on to that 1 nill scoreline or gone 3-2 up instaed of sc**thorpe we would be joint 2nd in the league with orient. lets hope we bounce back away at shrewsbury, we need a win to keep in the pack

At least the scum losing at home has made defeat a bit easier to take !

No we don't
we do. if we loose we will be over taken by teams under us and teams just above us will create a slight gap. we dont want to get into a loosing habit. we need consistancy

Let's not panic about one defeat lads! at least we only lost narrowly and I am sure Sc**thorpe will be admitting that we gave them a hell of a game! this is why we do not "draw" too many games at the moment because of our commitment and endeavour.

There's nothing wrong with our attacking prowess now with 8 goals in 3 games althouth I am a bit concerned that we've conceded the most goals in the league so far.

I think our game against Shrewsbury will be difficult on Saturday as they are struggling, but our lads will be looking for three points again, I am certain of that.

Indeed.  It was always a key factor under Webby in 90/91 that IMO we seemed, particularly away from home, to go out with such a positive attitude that many teams were put on the back foot.  This was borne out with an away record of W13 D1 L9.  So 40 points this season away from home will do me fine!

The good thing at the moment is that we are giving performances against teams at both the top & bottom the same effort level, which has been a big downfall in recent seasons.  How many times did we lose to Carlisle at home, when they were bottom or just of it, in the last few years?  Far too many.  Last night was merely a hiccup.

Not too worried about the result last night. Before the weekend I commented to my brother that I would realistically be happy with two draws from the Swansea/Sc**thorpe games, and over the moon with 4 points from them. We got three points and competed in both games. Players had poor games, first for a while, and yet we still competed. Results around the country went our way, lots of draws. Still looks promising, looking forward to the return of Bentley and possibly Gower at the weekend. More importantly three points and a continued play off push. Keep the faith boys.

I know what you're all saying, but please let me play Devil's advocate here.

We have lost our last 2 league games on our travels. In the process, we have let in 7 goals.

Both were termed hiccups in one form or another.

Any more league games in the N.E.? Would you consider Grimbsy and Boston in that same cursed region?

Also, does this mean we should tonk Yeovil away seeing as they are in the South West?

It would be nice for a change.

If we are serious contenders then we should not lose these games. Away from home is all about showing solidness at the back- they shall not pass ! OK that's easy to say where I am sitting but that's the bottom line. There is not a classy team in this division - just look at last night's results.

Yep!

Grimsby, Boston and Lincoln are all on Scunny's patch - so there's three games to avoid this year!

On a more positive note there's plenty of other away fixtures to make up for it.

I predicted a loss to Scunny - but I'm very confident about our 'bouncebackability' and from what I hear the lads are good at taming Shrews

I'm feeling hungover this morning, so everything looks a little less rosy from this corner of the City...

Why?  Well, here's a stat for you: we've conceded the most goals in the whole division.

Unless and until we sort out our defence, we will go nowhere this season.  We've clearly got ability - not many teams will put 4 past Swansea, or put two past Scunny 2 at Glanford Park.

But until we sort out the defence, then we will be staying put in this division.

Boston is at least 2 hours drive from Scunny. Lincoln about an hour and Grimsby about the same, but I would classify them as Eastern clubs not NE where Scunny are.

Who wants to be top at this time of the season, I have always thought the teams that go up are normally hovering just under the teams in the promotion spots, if we get to christmas within 7 points of an automatic promotion spot then I will be more than happy, you have got to understand we are always going to loose games, you have to except we are not Arsenal, but as long as you keep getting the percentage of wins each month you will be alright.

You're all overlooking one very simple fact:

Teams do not get promoted on the strength of what they do away (naturally if you are poo away then forget). Our away record over the last two or three seasons has been more than acceptable whereas our points return at home has been woeful.

I haven't got figures to hand but I'd argue that 45-50 points at home and 20-25 points away would get us in the play-off shake up. My guess is that we've come close, if not exceeded, these figures away in the last three seasons but nowhere near it at home.

Statto please !
