League or Non League ?

Firestorm

Pedant
With the transfer window approaching and a number of our recent better performers coming from Non league, I was wondering how our signings from League clubs compared to our Non league signings ?

Royce
Austin
Pountney
Garner
Gower
Eastwood

are all non league examples, with Royce, Austin and Garner all moving on to much better things, where as in the same period
I can only think of Stan, Peter Butler and Guthrie, being signed from League clubs who left us for better things.

Where do we look in January ?

Plus Chris Powell.

I think we need to look at both options, but you can't beat league experience to go straight in and do a job.

I'm always happy to see young non-league players getting their chance but for me, the January window should be used for signing some proven league players. The side needs some confidence and that's only going to come from experienced players.

I think we might be in for a long hard 1st quarter of 2006 so a mixture of league experience combined with hunger to show what a former non-league player can do in the big-time of L1 is needed.

Oli from Grays, plus a decent experienced (but not over the hill & as quick as a carthorse) LB or CD is essential. Still like us to go in for Holt but I can't see it happening!

League. Definitely need someone who's been there already - but someone who also has the desire.

Thought Oli, from the couple of games I've seen him on Sky, hasn't looked all that.

Holt would be fantastic but totally unrealistic, I feel. Still worth persuing though.

I personally would like to see that Left Back MK Dons had saturday,

Good dead ball delivery and tucked up JCR in the first half so well he changed wings.....

Yes indeed - we could use a player like that. That's something lacking from the games of both our full backs - they never seem to get a player 'in their pocket' for a match and basically hustle them out of the game like opposition full backs do to our wide players so often.

Lewington. Agreed.

Apparently Premier$hite scouts are watching McLeod, but if there is anyone in their line-up I would be interetsed in, it would be Lewington.

Off to Watford so i have been told.

Glad everyone else spotted Lewington. Ten minutes into the game I was hoping that Tilson had done the same thing. He left them a little exposed when he came over for the set-pieces, but by Christ, could he could cross a ball!

Des Lyttle is back at Worcester City and hungry for League footie again. He may be a little on the old side, but did anyone else see how he played on TV yesterday?

Would certainly have the experience and desperately wants back into league footie one last time.

From what I saw on Sunday he looked quite ropy and gave away some silly fouls, definitely a retrograde step - he is at Worcester City and on his way down.
