Le Tiss pulls out of Saints bid

Oh dear ... poor old Saints, hope someone comes through for them but it does look bleak i have to say

Surely they wont abandon their rescue attempt for the sake of appealing 10 points? Seems a bit short sighted.

I thought the consortium had stated they accepted the 10 point deduction and had found the FL to be problematic over the takeover.

Sad day for Football, and typical of Football League regulations to stand in the way of a club's rescue.

Sad for Saints fans, yes, but expect the league to bend the rules for them, no. Everyone knows the leagues rules so everyone has to abide by them.

And remember most of us the other year were annoyed because we didn't think, according to the rules, that the league were being harsh enough on Leeds. Can't have it both ways.....

This is not a case of reducing punishments, this is a case of the Football League effectively sentencing a club to closure by getting in the way of a prospective takeover.

Would be a very sad day for football if the Saints went out of business. Always had a bit of a soft spot for them when they was in the Premiership, no idea why I did.

or possible a club trying to hold the league to ransom in order to get the 10 points back.

The Financial backers would not release the funds with the 10 point deduction it says in the article) , this indicates to me that they expected a short term return on their investment and the 10 points would be sufficient to derail that plan (ie not get them promoted first time) .

Perhaps football needs a "big" name to have overspent itself into oblivion to bring the game back to reality, and whilst the world would have preferred it to be Leeds instead of Southampton , it if results in stabilising the game a bit it may well be a necessary loss

You could probably apply this to the world outside of football. How many badly run firms are out there spending money they dont have ruining the stability of market places all over the Country? It is inevitable that a lot of firms will not come through this recession but hopefully it will make the decent ones stronger.
