LDV Trophy

C C Csiders

Life President
Noticed today that we are available at 25/1 to win the LDV this year. Personally, I'm not bothered about the thing this year, and I would hope that we play the fringe players throughout any run we get in the competition. However, I think that 25/1 is good value, as well as being disrespectful when you consider that that is the same price that Peterborough are to win it, and longer odds than the likes of Walsall at 10/1, Tranmere at 12/1, Bradford 14s, Northampton 14s and Wycombe 16s.

Incidentally, Forest are favourites at 8/1.

but then i suppose they have taken into account our inability to actually win the thing. can you do each way bets in the ldv?!?!

Each way will noramlly be half the odds for a place in the Final.

The LDV does tend to be won, if memory serves, by teams in the middle to lower reaches of League One. With that in mind, and together with the fact they have a first round bye, I might have a dabble on (dare I say it) Col Ewe at 33/1.

I know,I know. It's a kind of insurance policy against my disappointment of them winning it - if they did.

Probably breaking the record for resurrecting an old post - but why did I not take heed of my own advice about Col Ewe?

At least you never put any money on the 8/1 favourites Forest!

Very sound logic Mr CCCsiders. It's likely to be won by a mid-table League One team - teams nearer the top have bigger fish to fry.

Which leaves us with a dilemma. Last night we made 10 changes and fielded a virtually complete reserve side (plus Danns and Halford after 70 minutes). I'd love a trip to Cardiff but not at the expense of playoffs/promotion.

MK Dons made 7 changes also.

I think you'll win it looking at what's left.

And if you do, just remember that it's a Mickey Mouse trophy and we never took it that seriously anyway.

I believe at least 2 of those changes were bringing back first teamers - I kind of take your point but it was still a great result for our second string. And the point I was making was only with regards to 'when to we start to take it seriously?'

Gremlin - very funny old chap, it looked like a mickey mouse trophy when you went ballistic over beating us in it ;)

But that is just beating you.

It could be down the park, and it would still be a big deal, as it would in a total friendly match, so dont pretend you would not have been the same!

Would you be talking about the first time we beat you to go to Cardiff? Or the second when we beat you on penalties with 10 men in your own backyard?

Mate you have completely misinterpreted me.

I was taking the peepee out of yer man Gremlin over there although I'm fairly sure he was joking anyway.

Everyone thinks it's a mickey mouse tournament until about the area semi finals, and then it becomes deadly serious - especially if playing your local rivals. We're no different at all.

Hope that clears it up - yes I'm chuffed we are 3 matches away from Cardiff.
