Layer Rd improvements?

FLAVIA

Mr. P.
BBC Essex reported on their lunchtime sports news that Col Ewe are working to improve Layer Road - for Championship football. Thought I heard mention of away supporters being moved to another part of ground but didnt catch all of the report. Anybody else hear / know anything?

The only improvement that could be made to that sh!thole would be to knock it down

I think the current away seating will become home seating and the "no-mans" land between the away standing and the barside is to become the away seats

urinals?! nah, too posh! they'll either dig a hole in the ground or supply a few buckets?!

The plan is to erect temporary seating in the area currently unused between the away fans in terrace 1 and the barside. Probably only 200 or so making the away capacity around 1000, but all up the Layer Road end.

Can't wait to see teh look on some of the away fans' faces when they take the 12 yard walk from the pavement to the pitch at Col******r.

Also can't wait to see the lok on the same fans faces when they take the same walk out of the stadium empty handed!

Presume this means we will have even less tickets this season than last.

Wonder if Col.U will double their Season Tickets like us as well, might be upto double figures now.

12 yards, that's a bit generous!  Would have said it was closer to 12 feet

Crowd scenes at Layer Road always remind me of the ones that you get on computer games. At first glance there appear to be thousands of people there but on closer inspection you realise that it's really just the same 4 or 5 faces repeated over and over and over again.

(to the tune of "thats why we're top of the league" at Layer Road in March):

"You all look the same, you all look the same, you all look the same, you all look the same"

If its only 3 Ipswich Norwich and you boys that would do for me

Seriously I think we could do quite well at home and win more than we lose, its away from home that I have my doubts.
By the way, the prices have been set for next season now, its £19 for the terraces at Layer Road next season with no pre match discounts

**shudder**

They do know it's just a converted cattle shed don't they??! I suppose with a small stadium, you have to crank prices up to pay the wages.

Yes I am afraid that is the reality of promotion, players will want higher salaries, even at this rate we will probably be one of the worst paying clubs in the division.
I am sure Southend will have a similar problem, it will be difficult to bring in the right players when the ones you want are probably on 10K a week

I think Parky will be looking at long term loan deals involving young players from Prem clubs, he has done very well with that sort of thing in the past.
There are rumours that his old mate Pardew is going to give him a season long loan on a couple of their up and coming young stars, hopefully not as injury prone as Richard Garcia

Changing the subject slightly, did anyone see Anglia Soccer night last week?
Parkinson whinged that the Chelsea game cost them the title!
He won't accept we are better than them and comes out with just about every excuse he can think of. Next he will be moaning that we had an unfair disadvantage this season as we had Freddy Eastwood. Just hope he goes to Charlton and makes a real mess of things.
