Youth Team
Whats peoples opinions of JL? Ive heard grumblings that he has been impressive in pre season (so Far). Do you think he would cut the mustard this season or better off shipped off to League two etc? Kightly back???

A year's loan to whichever club it was Stimmo went to (Stevenage?) would be ideal for him I think. Dont let him go - just loan him and get him back better and stronger for it

He has looked really good pre season, so I would not let him go, we need all the boddies we have got!!

Far better than the likes of Kightly before him!!

Looked real class when he came on against Orient

As we currently posses all of three strikers (one of which is Injured) I would suggest that loaning him out would be nothing short of a disaster.

I dont see him starting week in week out but well worth keeping in the squad.

I meant if/when we sign Hooper and Agogo.

Ah well if we had 2 more strikers then a years loan seems ok.

Would like to see Coley go for a similar deal to some in League One.

If we sign Agogo and Hooper does the business, i think its high time he's sent out on loan. He's at the point in his career where he needs football week in week out to help him develop, and At the moment Southend isn't in a position to give it to him.

Am I missing something here from this thread?

Hooper is YOUNGER than Lawson isn't he?!! So surely if anyone needs to be sent out on loan to gain first team experience then Hooper is the priority!!

Yep totally agree as hooper is younger and hasnt had much 1st team experiance.

I've always been impressed by PENCIL the guy has potential i remember at the start of last season he had a great impact. Tilly put him out on the wing for a couple of games and he seemed to go quiet and only become an occasional sub after that. I'd like him to stay and for him and Hooper to battle it out as 4th striker.

I would prefer to keep him that send him out on loan personally. With presumably only one more striker to come in I think we need as many attacking options as possible and Lawson is a good one, able to play up front and out wide.

Seems to have worked hard in the gym and bulked up a bit. Will be hard pressed to make the bench this season, but I'm sure that Peanut will make the grade towards the back end of the season.

We forget that we got a forward under our nose ..... his name is Lee Bradbury, he will do for now, unless we got new forward at the club.

Why not sign up Hooper and loan him to Barnet?

I didn't think Lawson looked very composed against Chelmsford but he looked better than last season. He's got enough about him to make his presence felt in the box and being a home grown lad, you know he'll put in the effort. Last season was a bit of first team action (and a couple of first team goals!) but this season is where he'll want to force his way in to the first team on merit. It's vital having youngsters with this sort of hunger when you have a small squad IMO.
