Last nights other match vs Norwich United

Norwichsufc

Youth Team
Last night as I was reading the local evening paper up here in budgie land I found this

Shrimpers play at Plantation Park

Norwich United continue their pre-season preparations tonight with a friendly against a Southend United XI. The Shrimpers are expected to send a mixed side consisting of first team and reserve players. Kick-off at Plantation Park is 7.30pm and admission is £3 (Concessions £1.50).

Perhaps we didn't tell them about the Canvey game happening at the same time!!

So Norwichshrimper, me and daughter donned the shirts and made the short trip to see this mixed side that was coming to norfolk.
Turned out to be the youth team + a very disgruntled looking Matty Harold.
Final score was a 1-0 defeat to a first half goal. Nathan macdonald in goal parried a sharp shot come cross from the right and the ball fell at the feet of the norwich striker who had the simplest of tasks of rolling the ball in. Defence gone for a walk at the time.
Not easy to identify all the players on the pitch for the shrimpers ( they even tried to confuse the locals by changing the kit for the second half. So Mr unhappy harold started as no 9 in the dark blue home kit and second half was no 11 in last seasons away kit!). The outstanding player was without doubt Medi Abalimba. Captain of the side and played with composure and power throughout.
All in all for £3 it was a good evenings entertainment and a welcome return to friday night football for the shrimpers :)

Brushy and Tilly were both at Park Lane, as I saw them both at the end of the game.

Oh, ok, saw Tilson but not Brush. Anyone know who the guy was leading the pre-match warm up - didn't recognise him? Sorry, probably the wrong thread.

Don't suppose Foran was at Norwich as well? I guess Harrold needs to be kept fit.

Ricky Duncan was in charge last night. Harrold was the only 'first teamer' there. Daughter overheard a conversation in the bar at half time that Harrold was there as he didn't pull his weight in training on thursday. He was going to be involved at canvey but was "punished" by having to play up here.

Ha, ha - that's good! So that's one in the eye for all those talking about Harrold giving 100% on the Hooper thread then!

James Lindie was meant to be there too, as he was the only one other than Harrold from the first team training squad. The rest were all Yoofs!

Cheers for the report back. Bet Harrold is a happy chappy then.

Seeing Tilly at Park Lane last night, he's got some kind of hefty tan going on. Anymore and we'll have to start calling him Dale Winton.

i think the youth or under 20 squad have a few friendlies against teams like Norwich united. harlow and bishops st to name just 2.

Perhaps it's just my sense of humour, but as no one has yet commented: one in the eye for Harold.........

I'll get my coat

:thump: I fear that may be a little too subtle for some being as no-one's commented and it wasn't intentional either, I'm not that clever!

I think this is disgusting.

How are people supposed to collect programmes if they play two matches at the same time.
