last game @ the hall this weekend

The Colours Between

Guest
ok,

so i think its fair to say its gonna be fred's last game for us this weekend and of course spinner.

but, realisticly, who else will play their last game for the shrimpers @ roots hall saturday?

I can't see Sodje being offered a new contract and I'd be surprised (and delighted) if at least two of JCR, Clarke and Hammell don't play their last home game for Southend on saturday.

Cant personally see why all these rumours of Clarke leaving come from, or for that matterHammell? Neither have been very consistent this season. Clarke made a horrendous gaffe on saturday, not for the first time this season and his distribution is still very poor. Hammel is too slow for the championship and gets done in the air too much. I cant see any champ clubs coming in for either of them, not to mention the fact that they have only joined last summer.
I think JCR may attract a few bids.

I dont understand why everyone is going on about players that are going to leave. Aside from Freddy and maybe Clark or Hammel I dont see any other players that have really cut it in the championship - they may have shown glimpses of skill that would fit into this league but they are not consistent enough. apart from teams that will be in league one pushing for promotion (which will prob be us anyway) I cant see where all these players are going to go off to!!! Although if we do end up loosing JCR, Hammel, Clark and the rest you wont see me for dust lol:D

So, Sam, it could technically be your last game at the Hall too?

Freddy made his debut for us on the 10.11.04 and signed a 3 year deal this will take him into november 07 so personally i dont see this to be his last match at the Hall.

There was a option to extend the contract i belive

There is so much rumour regarding his future nothing has yet been confirmed either by the club or his management team.

Lets just stop the rumour mill and start supporting the players and management tilly and brush enjoy the last game at the hall this season and look forward to the next game what ever division we end up in

It's just speculation. I've not heard anything, but I'd not be surprised if a couple of teams come in for Campbell-Ryce and I don't think that Clarke or Hammell came here to play in League One, and it wouldn't surprise me if their agents don't tout them around a bit.

Fair comments CB . I think the main reason their names are mentioned revolve around their decisions to up sticks and move South - the carrot was Chump football . Now if that is no longer on offer they might not want to stick around down here , even if they don't go to other Chump clubs

Maybe if we swap places with Blackpool at seasons end he might well trot back up north to play for them again, in a have you money back scenario?

I can't really see anyone leaving with the exception of Spinner and probably Sodje.

Look at the likely candidates:

Freddy, Hammell, Foran, Macca, JCR & Clarke

The lads that joined last season knew that we were a team that would do well to stay in the division therefore likely to go down.

Based on performances i can't see any top championship side taking them on for a fee as none have set the world alight. Would they then want to join another suspected struggler for another season of potential woe? If I were in their position I would rather stay at Southend and be pushing for a top of the table position, winning games with the view to being picked up that way by the bigger boys.

Freddy...well who knows? would a top side come in for him? I think we should offer him a good deal to stay with a release clause if anyone decent comes in for an agreed fee

Going - Flavs, Hammell, Spinner, JCR, Freddy, Paynter and Harrold

Coming - None.
