I'd imagine there's a lot of people on Shrimperzone who will be very distressed at this news. He was after all the bassist of a barely known band for two whole years nearly 50 years ago.

You clearly never saw Soft Machine play.In any case have some respect for the dead.
 
Sad news indeed. He'll forever be in Syd Barrett's shadow for me, but I still love plenty of his work. RIP.

He was in Soft Machine from 1966-1968 before I was born so no I am gutted to say I missed out. Its not about respect but I reckon 0.1% of the Shrimperzone public have a clue who he was to be honest. Did you know Ken Smith of the Electric Shoes (1963-1966) just died? Surely you should post another RIP post on a football website for him? He was a genius.....
 
saw him live at Uni. Pretty good. I saw Soft Machine at the new college building in the late 60s must have been. Can't remeber if he was still with therm. I actually have an old vinyl album of his. Elton John plays a bit of piano on it.
