He gave us nothing at all in that replay at Liverpool. Their all-star team didn't need his help but they got it anyway. He continues to be outspoken about the shortcomings of current referees forgetting that he was one of a succession of inadequate PGMO heads running professional refereeing.

Thoughts on having the ref's mic broadcast rugby-style - would it help quality of refereeing and player behaviour? Dislike rugby intensely but this is one thing they do seem to get right.

Yep. I ran on the pitch after, and the ground was rock hard. I know a few players from both sides had some nasty abrasions after. I always wondered why it wasn't called off again.
