He is a good player, and can pass a ball; but so can many players. Just because hes come through our youth system doesnt mean we have to praise him so highly, i.e. always gettin high marks. Same with players such as Crawford etc. WHY?????

I don't rate Crawford, I don't rate Herd, I never rated Lawson, I thought Trevor Fitzpatrick was useless. Ferdinand I think has something about him and deserves some credit. Lets hope he signs a contract, but from other posts it seems unlikely

The difference between Ferdinand's mature contribution and those of Crawford and, lately, of Herd is simply immense.

completely agree. And Paul Sturrock must be congratulated for bringing him out of central defence and into midfield, where his ability to 'keep things simple'
shows maturity beyond his years. He has a good touch too, giving the receiver of his pass time to play.

This has got to be a wind up.
If you went to Lincoln, you would have seen a player that has been out for a few weeks due to an ankle injury, so you can't judge him on that game alone. He may take 2 or 3 more games to get back to his best, if the ankle doesn't flare up.
We went on our best run this season with him in midfield. Since he has been out, our form has dipped. He's still only a kid, give him a chance. I actually think he is already a great player, and will only get better and stronger as he matures.

Best run with him & Bilel, but I see your point.

Because at Lincoln he was about 100 times worse than usual, when he gets back to match fitness then tell SZ if you still think he's overrated

Mohsni and Ferdinand really have been massively missed - I'm just glad we have one of them back and I sincerely hope Ferdinand does stay.

Mohsni's absence however has ultimately cost us a play-off place IMHO.

Talk about 'build em up and knock em down'! He's come in, looked better by the game, until injury halted his progress. Not been brilliant, but plenty good enough to keep his place and show promise for the future. Can he keep the progress going? We will have to wait and see, but its a bit early to say he's 'overrated'!
As for Crawford, I've yet to see him contribute anything but a lot of running around - from performances so far, he's not in the same class.

Clearly the thread starter doesn't have a clue what he's on about. Ferdinand has been very sorely missed and it was his presence that allowed Easton and Grant to get forward more, he provided that vital link between defence and midfield and can also do that useful thing and actually defend himself! Thought he gave a good account of himself, but obviously was lacking a bit of match awareness.

The bloke starting thus thread is clearly a tit.

He is fast, strong and good at retaining possesion. I can't think of a player since Peter Butler who was as good at winning the ball back. All this and he is still a kid. What your getting with him
is raw talent and potential. If he can become an established L2 player at 18 then the world is his oyster. Sadly I don't think he will stay as I feel if it was going to happen it would have done by now.

Absolutely right OBL. Easton hasn't been getting into the box hardly at all since K.F.'s been out.

good point well made

Kane is absolute quality + the club must do everything it can to sign him up on a 3 year deal before we lose him. Not only does he bring stability to our midfield but having one of our youth team players sign a full pro deal gives every youngster at the club a real boost as it shows what each of them can do + that if they apply themselves 100% they too can make it as a pro. also any other kids we look at will know this + rather sign for us than rot in a higher clubs reserves team.
Really hope he shows ambition ahead of what an agent says ( thinking purely about his short term commission )
Kane can play week in week out , get maybe 100 league games under his belt + mature under a very very good manager + become a repected pro leading to a very lucrative move in the future -- or he can listen to an agent , maybe earn a few quid more initially , but rot in reserves somewhere in front of no fans + not feel wanted....

also dont judge him on saturday -- on that bobbly pitch no one could pass well + bound to be a little rusty after missing a few weeks injured. Having Kane alongside Grant + Sawyer in the middle is our perfect midfield...

Money talks, and we don't have any :nope:

I do actually agree with this statement and that's not a dig at Easton who I think is a very good player at this level. Granty mentioned during a previous spell that he loves playing alongside Sawyer and with those 2 in midfield (and Granty having licence to also get forward with Ferdinand behind them) I think they could all complement each other very well. It's just a shame that it doesn't matter now, we're no longer in the play-off race. If we can't win at Lincoln we have virtually no chance of winning at Crewe and 3 points from 6 was a must from these 2 games.

Having said that it'll be interesting to see how much we miss Easton's leadership, that's what concerns me most.
