Just seen this

From BBC gossip column:

Southend have issued a ban on the wearing of denim in the press box at Roots Hall. (Telegraph)

Are we going all up market or something?!

Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come. I hope we don't end up with a "prawn sandwich" section at Fossets Farm like at Wembley or the Emirates. They have some of the best positions in the house but don't emerge after the half time food until half way through the second half and really don't help the atmosphere.

:(

I thought Roots Hall was upmarket? :p

If not then I shall stop wearing my Tux to the games in future as a protest until they get the level of attire back to a suitable level.

What other gossip was there? "QPR have stopped selling Steak and Kidney pies at half time but will continue to sell Chicken Balti Pies"

Just heard on the radio that a radio commentator turned up for the Leeds match in jeans and we gave him a pair of black Primark slacks to change into. Good effort I say, although I don't see why we should have to pay for these low-life northerners who don't know how to conduct themselves :finger:

Ha ha , I just heard that on Five Live, apparently we offer the black Primark slacks in all waist & leg sizes to cater for the masses.

The somewhat miffed commentator said: "Shouldn't Southend be concentrating on getting back to the Championship instead of implementing rules like this?".

Had visions of Mark Gower & Matt Harrold at the door to the 'Stan Collymore' suite dressed in tuxedos refusing entry to a denim clad Alan Green & Mark Pougatch :p

Not being funny but this has been the dress code for years, when using the SUFC Hospitality. Even for pre-season friendlies when a load of us hired boxes we had to wear smart casual. I think you will find nearly all football clubs have these policies.

Look if you dont want to be told what to wear - goto the Fish House for a pre-match meal and then into the Spread for a few jars followed by walking to the ground to take your seat in the East stand and you will be allowed to wear jeans and a football shirt. That is what most of us do. ;)

Speak for yourself.

You'd never get me in the East Stand again...

Care to enlighten us why not?

As I was responding to AS whose seats on Saturday will be in the East, I was offering him an alternative option that would allow him to wear his Footie shirt.

I was only joking. I just remember sitting there with my Granddad and Dad when I was younger, squinting into the sun. Always preferred the other 2 stands, thats all, and it's a short walk to the South...

I bet i will have no chance of putting my Aberdeen Shrimper flag over the hoardings will I???

I'm not sure that's part of the Executive match day experience package as yet...

Maybe the new stadium will rectify the situation?
