cant really say much as need to rush out, wolves were poor... we were worse, did the basics well and looked better than usual at the back but still had nothing going forward... jcr was dreadful and freddy not much better

ratings:

flavs: 6.5 did ok, distribution was good with bradders on the end of everything, but probably could have rushed out for when boothroyd broke free down the edge of the box

francis: 7.5 MOTM, had a good game, especially in the first half... needs to really be allowed to get forward to be at his best

prior: 6.5 quiet and a few dodgy moments but on the whole did well with boothroyd

sodje: 6.5 defended well but passing was very poor

hammell: 6.5 a few heart in mouth moments but often calms things down with good passing and intellegence... better than che!

jcr: 5 - shocking, picked the ball up in the box and then ran out! picked the ball up on the half way line and then decided to run along the halfway line! defended well in places though but he wasnt an outlet

macca: 6.5 got forward but crosses weren't raining in,,, a very similar player to maher i noticed today

hunt: 7 worked his socks off and was a great arial and defensive asset. however still has the odd heart in mouth moment when he is mugged!

gower: 7 cracking shot was blocked in the 2nd half, enjoyed having bradders as a target and looked our most threatening player at times

freddy: 6 not at the races, fully fit? mind somewhere else?

bradders: 7 fed off scraps and pinged the ball around well, needs an up-for-it partner tho

subs:

cole 6 - hardly noticed him except for when he won a corner

hoops 6.5 - almost got through a couple of times

harrold 6 - nothing

Francis?

I could have sworn he was the player who kicked it straight up in the air when JCR had done all the hard work to get him the ball

Kept his head up though

i think thats called a bobble and usually his passing/crossing is excellent. i thought he defended well, seems to have tightened up his control, got forward when he could and gave 100%

Have to Agree, 1st 20 minutes was great but after that shocking, seems very slow at getting back

Dont know what game u were watching, Francis was poor, and Hunt was even worse, played the ball back to Spinner or Soje almost everytime he got the ball. I fail to believe Frank Moussa wouldve done any worse. Against a pretty average team, we didnt test the keeper not once and Wolves couldve easily had 2 or 3 more. Blackpool and Rotherham here we come.

...Not good enough.

Hunty was the wrong side of the white line today, all that was missing was his pet dog as he went for an afternoon stroll

JCR = 25 games 0 goals, 0 assists, winger my ar*e!

After we made the changes, from the players out there there was a total goals scored in the league this season of 4! That says it all and if we don't put the ball in the box, we could play for 90 days let alone 90 minutes and not score.

Prior's interview on BBC Essex post match was spot on. IT also sounded as if there was a few more thingts he wanted to say, but was very diplomatic, to say the least.

Wingers getting caught offside is a joke at this level, and Gower needs to get mobile and stick with his fullback, and look along the line. Someone on the radio sent a text in saying we were a pub team, I think that is a slur on pub teams, we weren't that good!

Yet again no long throws into the box, despite Hammell and Francis hurling throws 30 -40 yards up the line at times.

Crowd tried to get behind the team, but the team offered no hope and no passion, no desire again.

For those that didn't go to Barnsley, you got exactly the same powder puff performance today. It's simply not good enough.

On the positive side, and there were only a few, Flavs made one good save and was left with no chance with the goal, yet again, but did all that was asked of him.

McCormack drove on and used the ball well. Will be a good assest for the future, let's hope we sign him early. Must stop picking up the yellows though, he's now on 4!

Bradbury showed the difference between a class experienced target man and the lightweight Harrold. Not only winning headers, but intentionally directing them to a blue shirt.

Sodje as committed as ever.

For Brush to say we are nearly there on the radio tonight is a joke, after a performance like that, not unless he was referring to L1 of course!

It's time there were a few home truths in the dressing room, and some alternative tactics used.

3 - 5- 2 , long throws into the box occasionally, Moussa into midfield - we've got nothing to lose, to name but a few options that could be employed.

But today we just laid down and died.
Southampton next week, after they demolished Hull today, play like we did today and they will have a field day.

No apologies for venting my spleign, but if nothing changes then 11 points at the end of the season is what we are looking at - period!

Hunt was and is attrocious, would give him 2 for turning up, worse than Gutts and Clarke. Sodje absolute rock, give him 9 and also Bradders 8. As for Sir Freddy thanks for the past and today thanks for nothing 4!

Nice to see a good decent honest post, spot on with everything!

Absolutely 100% spot on.

One shot on target I counted today; McCormack from 35 yards in the second half.

Not good enough.

There was no passion or desire from anyone today. It's the first time this season that i've come away from Roots Hall feeling as deflated as I feel now. Substitutions were made late yet again. Players seem as clueless as Brush and Tilson do. We need someone in the dressing room who's going to tell those players that there's 8,500 Southend fans paying decent money to see them pull their sleeves up and fight for survival. If they can't show the same fight and determination that they did against Man U then they aren't deserving of a Southend shirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We've got one manager who although has done us proud until now is doing nothing more than saying 'go out and try your hardest'. Well i'm sorry we need a little more direction than that regardless of what he has done for us up until now!!!!!

Oh please don't you start as well.

I had the displeasure of some chap behind me venting a spleen of his own at the lack of substitutions. We made substitutions, probably the only positive ones we could have made and they made about as much impact as throwing an orange at an elephant. Oddly enough, I don't remember the same guy shouting to Tilson that he felt that with hindsight, keeping the players on the pitch at the time may have been the better option.

It's one thing rating our support on the lack of noise but if that's the noise then I'd prefer that sort of opinion to be kept to the dreamy realm of the owner's head. If there was a problem today, it was that our team just isn't good enough to score enough goals.

As for the clamour for Mitchell Cole's inclusion, I'm sorry but he has changed so little from the last time I saw him play at the beginning of last season. If anything he has got worse. When will someone demonstrate to him, perhaps with a video of how Gower does it, that to get the ball, you need to actually think about where you are positioned. If you're standing next to a full back, it's going to be hard getting it to your feet to run with it.

On the subject of Gower, I thought he was our best player today with only Bradbury and Sodje offering any competition for it. Claims that Flahavan couldn't have been expected to do more is ridiculous. He controls his box about as well as Titan FC control their players. For those who aren't in the SZFC clique, there seemed to be little to no control on Titan players. Flavs is a great shot-stopper as he demonstrated from Bothroyd's low drive but IMO, he's not good enough for this level when we're still getting opposition headers bang in the middle of our six yard box or near post punches from corners where it is a simple catch even under pressure.

Thank you - what does he bring to the game from an attacking sense?.....naff all....Sorry, but if we actually bothered to leave someone up on the halfway line at set pieces (and it was JCR), the opposition still wouldn't leave anybody back as he'd wait to beat four or five of them before losing the ball.

Exactly!

But when does Tilly ever change things early in the game?

Answers on a postcard please...
