Just got back!

southend4ever

I used to play a little.
well shrimperzone....

where do i begin...

by all accounts it would appear that it was a totally rejuvenated leeds team to the 'flops' that turned out midweek. I wasn't at the game in the week to comment too much but with a much bigger crowd today they were backed all the way to the end. The football wasn't compelling but it was effective and to be fair they deserved their win.

Freddy had a couple of cheeky chances in the second half but Wise had shored up the defence and they looked a much better unit going forward.

We look shaky on our travels and a win soon would be much appreciated. We have had a number of performances this year that shows if every player gievs their all we can compete but without that we will not stay in this league. Just a bit of fight like our fellow essex rivals are showing and we will consolidate just like the boss keeps reminding us that he wants.

Apologies if this is not a good read, mate drove and I am absolutely done for the evening. It was a good day out and a quality ground. It's hard to say with Dennis Wise if he has the tactical nouse or whether he is just motivating good teams to get the best from them either way thanks to him I am celebrating my bet that come in today. 30 quid on swindon draw and then lincoln to win at full time returned 270! happy days.... thats all i can thankyou for!

anyway nothing bad to say about today.... I think our defence will improve with efe at the back even though barrett doesn't understand him according to his account in the echo ... and there is hope yet!!

Just got back too and have to disagree with you. I thought we put them under so much pressure second half (5 corners in a row) I can't believe we didn't score.

in terms of dominance yes we should have scored! however, in terms of out and out chances.... draw fair result to be honest, this game could have gone either way though we just didn't get the luck!

You make luck by putting shots on target with a crowded penalty box. You make your own luck by getting players to the byline behind defenders and getting balls into the box and make the defence work for their money.

Two things we singularly failed to do today. Alright, second half Gower and Hooper got far more forward than they did in the first but how many times did we play the ball around the 20 yard line with no one being prepared to have a pop into a crowded box?

I have too agree with you - We out played Leeds but this time we didn't take our chances. And thats the difference between the teams in the league, a game could come down and does come down to takin your chance. Until we do that then i shall fear the worse. With that said good heart and passion was shown.

All the best

Bloody hell, watch yerself, truth hurts on ere!

I thought we dominated the second half, but if we'd been playing all night we still wouldn't have scored!

The difference is, Leeds no matter how bad they were as a team today, took their chances. Ok, it was very poor defending by us for their first goal, Moore had the freedom of Elland Road.

I really can't see us staying in this league with the squad we have. Unless Tilly/Brush pull some miracles out in the transfer window, this season will just drag on and our fate could be sealed.

Thought Gower played well in the second half today.

Hunt also put some good crosses over, and i'd have to give him the Southend MOM.

Gutts was again shocking, and it was sad to see no Jay Smith on the bench. I hope Jay comes in for Gutts against Hull.

Tuesday is a must win game, today we needed at least a draw.

The biggest problem?? Hoops & Freddy don't play well together as a front two. Both played wide, trying to cut in when a ball into the middle for their striking partner to receive. Unfortunately all that was there were central defenders having a relaxing afternoon.

I was sat in the West Stand as a guest of a customer & I have to say that the noise & support from the Shrimpers corner was a credit to the club. Well done!

Wiggy, because I happen to point out two points of the game where we failed to produce the goods please do not in any way think that I happen to agree with you and your perceptions of the game.

I was highlighting two points but I also think we played them off the park in the second half. I see where things need to be improved but I also see the positives in any game I see. Something you fail to do time and time again. So I would like to point out here and now that I in no way agree with any of wiggy's negative posts on here..........I thank you

Don't be shy, you have hit the nail on the head, you make your own luck by peppering the box, something Tilson fails to see. He thinks numerous corners launched to non heading midgets and 5 yard balls backwards and sideways is the way to go, unfotunately the ball has to hit the net to win a game. Stuff the Man U game, this was one to try and win against poor opposition and we failed again, don't give me that Dennis Wise lark, with a bit more ambition it was there for the taking!

I may have hit the nail on the head as far as making your own luck is concerned but that in no way makes us a poor side. Something I said to Eddie Grey on BBC Leeds when I phoned in on the way home yesterday and gave my points of view on the game.

1. Barret & Sodje are not non heading midgets.

2. Stuff the Man U game?.....fine, give your potential ticket to someone that's going to appreciate it more.

3. Denis Wise lark? He did what he was supposed to do. He motivated the players - especially the defence - and they didn't let him down.

4. This was one to try and win? What planet are you on? Do you think the players go out onto the pitch week in week out and not try to win every game? You cannot fault any one of them for their commitment yesterday.

Constructive criticism is always welcome where it is due but please Wiggy, engage brain before letting the fingers loose on the keyboard.
