Hi all - just back from an excellent weekend in Essex! Fantastic result on Saturday after 2 poxy goals from them - great comeback and a great 3 points in the bag :)
Popped in for a quick drink with the missus at the spread before the match and it was nice meeting those of you that i met out the back - sorry i had to leave so quickly but she really wanted to catch journey south, and i was a bit embarrassed about it...obviously :D Upon hearing them ruin let it be by the beatles - we vowed never to sit through that kind of rubbish again!
As i said - really enjoyed the game - as im sure was evident with the irish flag waving every time southend did something good! - and it was a nice change not having poles in the way! Decided to go for east blacks this time over my usual west seats - and was a great view - lot more people criticising rather than encouraging the team in the east i noticed tho :thump:
Anyways - after the final agonising 5 minutes of injury time i waited around hoping to meet some of the players. Steve Collis came out and was a true gentleman - stopped for a quick chat with me and got a photo too (see below) - he wished me a safe trip home and it really made my day to meet him. Then just as i was about to hit the road - kev maher came walking out and again was absolutely fantastic in stopping for a chat - turns out he has family just up the road from where i live over here! He said he saw the flag during the game and seemed really happy about it - we got a photo together but much to my dismay the bloody thing didnt come out
All in all a great trip and even better to see the boys get 3 points (havent seen them win in 5 trips over before this weekend!) Will be back in November for Cheltenham probably when we have overtaken those orient c***s :D
