I for one would like to thank everyone of those troops who risked life and limb, with many not making it, to keep this country free.

R.I.P. to those who lost there lives on D-DAY and to those who fought from 39-45.

Hero is a word strongly thrown around but you are true HEROES

I went to France just after the 60th Anniversary.

Pegasus Bridge, Normandy Beaches, Ste Mere Eglise, soldiers cemeteries.

Ive been on quite a few holidays in quite a few countries but I wouldnt swap that week in France for any of the others.

If you have never been, this is one thing every British person should do before they die, regardless of your interest in World War 2.

Agreed, and while your there, pop down to the Somme region both amazing experiences, thank god for our magnificent armed forces, past and present.

Absolutely salute them all, heroes every one of them making a united stand against fascism.

.. and they'd be turning in their graves now, if they knew you were the type of Man ( i use it loosely) that they had fought for the future of.

Well said, I had an uncle killed at Caen on 10th July 1944, I've visited the cemeteries, plus those of WWI it's a humbling experience.

Many of us, are descendants of Heroe's.. and that certainly includes you!!!

However, there are rumours you were actually there Harry ;)

Yawn. I'm not even going to grace that pathetic post with any form of response and derail this thread.

Get over yourself. More likely they'd be turning in THEIR graves if they knew what kind of politics you're partial to and wonder if you should be fighting on the other side.

Prick.

Woooooooooooooooh... you big girl's blouse.. Resorting to personal, and explicit insults, is very childish - why can we not discuss this like Men?? I know the answer.. but hey..

Thanks J.

I have to say if I had been there I would have been crapping myself and digging my way to Australia mate. Their courage under fire was amazing.

Indeed it was, i still am trying to find, a photo that was published at the IWM in London, of my Grandad on the Juno Beach - however, they never kept a catalogue of the pictures.. :(

I edited the response. You want a personal battle over this? This isn't the thread to start it. Perhaps you "right wingers" should waste your lives hacking into my account again, oh the giggles you must of had.

Wooooah easy there boy - Hacking into accounts?? Are you accusing me of this, 1 i don't have the knowledge to, and 2ndly, i was winding you up on the thread - wanna complain - check with the Mods i suppose, can't they track IP's?????? So let's stop throwing mud eh?? Me old bean... :p

I know a good number would be kicking your arse and telling you to sit down and shut up. They fought for freedom , not the right to dictate what was "freedom" but yours and everyone elses no matter if they liked it or not.

I detest the BNP but would fight for their right to exist, but by that also my right to debate and criticise them . Ive found with those of a right wing slant that they do not encourage debate no questioining they find difficult to respond to .

Those brave men and women (for there were some involved in D-Day as well ) gave of themsleves so we all had freedom .

Out of interest, were you ever a member of the armed forces or if not how come you never joined?

This is not meant as a dig, as I support a lot of the sentiment behind your patrioticism and passionate support for our armed forces, but just wondered what drives your fierce support.

Bad post.

you started it. Do you expect him to ignore you?

Just for today lets lay our differences aside and unite to honour these fallen heroes. They laid their lives down just so we could argue over whether Bart or Flavs was the best keeper ;) No more can be or should be asked from these heroes.

R.I.P.
