Jozic

It's unlike me as I usually see a player's strengths before I see their weaknesses, but I'm struggling to see Jozic as anything other than a new Dave Morley. He's tall and certainly looks the part - but imho, he makes far too many errors for a centre-back. Saturday's game against Grays confirmed my opinion with a terrible defensive error that forced Darryl into a double-save from a 2 versus one situation.

Usually it's me still defending a player when everyone else is convinced he's $%&*e so what am I missing with Jozic?

I think you were at the wrong match or did'nt realise we were playing in grey as we were alreadfy 3-2 down when he came on.

Did you see the Millwall match?

The guy didn't put a foot wrong and was awesome both in the air and on the deck.

I didn't see the Grays game but it sounds as though a few of our defenders were off colour... rather last Saturday than next.

I've edited my post about being responsible for the goal as I was thinking of the same incident when he exposed Darryl. Should have been a goal and certainly would have been without an excellent double-save from Darryl.

Seriously, I hope I'm proved wrong but I'm just not yet convinced.

Yes, Jozic made a bit of a howler to let their player through but so did Barrett, who was partially responsible for the first goal when he let the ball drop over his head...

He's only played a little bit for us and in the Milwall game was pretty sharp. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt on that one, everyone makes mistakes sometimes.

we were all poor on Saturday - no-one looked up for it and we looked 'jaded'. As someone else stated on another thread, Oli made Barrett look pretty ordinary.
Jozic was class against Millwall - I just think the lethargy of the rest of the players rubbed off on him against Grays

"Jaded" in pre-season !!!!

What hope is there?

I've only seen him against Millwall when I though he was very classy. Heard great reports from him for the Chelmsford and Norwich games. One off game in 4 pre-season games isn't a failure. I'd certainly sign him up if he still wants to come; certainly I thought he looked a likely 3rd choice behind Barrett and Spinner.

He hardly had anything to do against Chelmsford either, so I was amazed that everyone was raving about him.

I think Tilly is looking at him being the long term replacement for Spinner. This season is probably Spinner's last, so Jozic can be given the odd game here and there to adapt to English football as we ease Spinner through the season. He definitely looked like the new Spinner when he barged two players out of the way to attack a cross when we were defending, and then when he tried to dribble his way out of defence and got caught!

So is he back for good, and has he signed yet ?

Last I heard he had disapeared to Germany or somewhere ?

I havent seen him yet but some more options at centre half would be good bearing in mind the age of Spinner and Andy Edwards.

I think if he does sign, i think we should give him the chance to settle in. Tilson knows who to sign.

From what I have seen posted on here then Jozic does seem a good prospect, and the fact that he has come back for another friendly bears this out, and he may be close to signing.

I seem to remember a few people having initial doubts over Barrett in his early games for us. Look what a season he had last year.

don't forget Jozic is based in Germany, so he may have gone back to sort things out for moving to England

That's what i'm thinking. I reckon tilly will sign him this week. We haven't been linked with any other defenders, so i hope he signs soon.
