That was reported on another thread, but although it may have been the case at the time football transfers are notoriously unpredictable and who knows a move may be revived (especially if Forte reconsiders his position re his pay off)...

If this is the case then he will have to drop his wages CONSIDERABLY, can't see it myself.
Alan Smith went from being paid 60k a week at Newcastle to 3k a week at MK Dons. It does happen.

I thought the problem was the settlement fee from Southampton rather than the wages from us (he was hoping for a decent payout to leave the saints).

Why does everyone on here keep banging on about Forte. Has anyone looked at his scoring record? 42 goals in total over 10 years. Not good enough is all I can say.

His goalscoring record is pretty dismal. Never scored double figures in a season. I'm sure we could get better on loan. Looking at the PFA released list there are still some decent names out of contract.
Barry Corr didn't have a great scoring record either.

not sure brown sees Cowan as striker, rather a pacey winger. I'd rather he be given a run up front tho.
If we do sign forte, that's 2 really pacey players in the side and would allow us to stretch teams.
