Jemal Johnson is sacked after one offence.

Very likely Ryan Hall will be spared again after a second misdemeanour.

Do you think Johnson has right to feel hard done by?

Please discuss.

Because none of us know exactly what went on in either case it's a daft question as they can't be compared to one another.

The question was asked about Bilel as to why no french clubs had snapped him up. Similarly, is it coincidence that in the last transfer window there had been no visible evidence of clubs falling over themselves to prise Hall et al from Roots Hall? I am personally disgusted with his and his accomplices recent behaviour and equally disgusted that the club, so incensed by behaviour so unacceptable to the management, the Morecambe Three were in last nights squad. Football is bereft of morals and sets few decent examples anymore. Shame on Southend United, firstly brought about by the named players and then by the clubs fickleness.

Yeah, shame on Southend.

I blame that David Roche. He started it.

Although McAlinden was a bit dodgy. In 1950, McAlinden was caught up in controversy after it was alleged that he received illegal payments during his second spell with Portsmouth. As a result he was suspended for the first two months of the 1950-51 season.

I don't think that being involved in a hastily-arranged midweek friendly at a non-league club should be seen as a reward for the players. If anything it's a punishment. Let's see if they're invovled at the weekend before criticising the Club's reaction.

Southend United players to have been arrested while playing for Southend...some charged, some not.

Tes Bramble (kept by club)
Daryl Flahavan (kept by club)
Jamie Stuart (kept by club)
Wyan Wobinson (I think released)
Jemal Johnson (sacked)
Ryan Hall (kept by club)
Leo Roget (kept by club)
David Roche (arrested at Roots Hall! and jailed)
Peter Durson (arrested, charged and apparently fled the country)

Seen as a punishment? Well then all the players were punished that played last night. Lets get real about this. A public form of punishment needs to be seen and identified as such in order to set any example. Perhaps you can tell me where improved club discipline is going to come from breaches of club conduct being penalised by having to play football.

and of course there's the players who left us and got arrested, or who were arrested before joining us, like

Lee Barnard
Freddy Eastwood
Ricky Otto....

And when they're dropped from the team on Saturday and next Tuesday that will be a public form of punishment. Leaving them at home to watch Coronation Street while a bunch of our fringe players players play a friendly in the sticks on a cold February evening isn't a punishment.

If it had been placed on record they were suspended by the club for the friendly and the next two league games then some example would have been set. The club should have announced it and in doing so made a statement of their position in such matters. I hope you are right and they sit out two league games, at the very least.

I see your point.

But they both came on and scored so wouldn't blame PS if they were in the squad. A fine is sufficient for me!

And that is why we have such poor discipline. Actions going unpunished or net by a metaphoric slap on the wrist like a fine. Sturrock needs to show the surety of right and no tolerance of wrong.

Depends how much they are fined, it's not like top flight footballers a fine would hurt them. I don't think PS will leave them in the squad but I just mean I wouldn't be surprised if they were.

I think it must just be me. I love football but it cannot come before everything and that certainly includes common decency and respect. The players let themselves down, the club down and the fans too. The discipline issue which I feel is clearly hurting the team and performances will only improve when offences/offenders are stamped out. It appears only I and seemingly Bilel are disturbed by the moral lassitude. I am bowing out on this one now because I don't want to appear as a preacher, i have no religious belief, but am bemused by the constant acceptance in society in general and football in particular of wrong doing.

Mr Moshni is a regular offender and the club will no doubt deal with his latest tantrum with the utmost seriousness as is correct.
If the rumoured shananigans of three other players on Friday night are fact - then they showed unbelivable arrogance and complete contempt for Southend United and it's supporters. The Morecambe match was crucial and the squad had been made extremely aware of that fact.
The club is far bigger than any individuals who probably assume that, at this crucial stage of the season, the club can do very little!

The point of the above comment was to say that Mr Johnson was sacked for an incident away from the workplace.
Should the rumoured behaviour of the three players named by the club this week be proven, then it appears at least as shameful an episode than that which resulted in Mr Johnson having his contract terminated.
