John from the Co-Op

Napster

No ⭐
Was sacked last night. Loyal customers last night demanded an explanation, but none was forthcoming from the official website.

It was suggested this was his last chance at a decent level of supermarket, and he will now struggle to find another job at one. It was even claimed he was regularly late for his shelf-stacking and didn't even try to keep up appearances

John hasn't commented yet, nor has his agent, or Co-Op.

just as one door shuts, another one opens . . .

step forward Mr Ricketts - we have a job which suits your skills nicely

The supermarket were crazy to employ him anyway. Shoppers at his former supermarkets had laughed when Co-Op brought him in. From Waitrose to Tesco and then a short spell at Lidl, he never quite fulfilled the stacking ability that saw him so highly regarded in his early career.

A shame 'cos at times, John put in some good work.

I understand that the shop manager never actually wanted John but the shop owner found out about his availability and decided to give him a shot

But the Tesco customers warned the Co-op about him.

"It all looks alright at first," said one, "but then he'll start stacking the beans five minutes later than he should which has an overspill onto the cheese and deli section, so that sometimes these sections aren't operational when the shop opens."

"After that it will be putting the chopped tomatoes into a different row to the peeled plum ones, and then dropping deeper into the warehouse rather than putting the short dated stuff out first."

"He also positioned himself next to the bargain perishables to be sold off at the end of each day, and ate whatever he could.  Consequently he has a weight problem which affected his ability in the all-National Supermarket Sweep competition for retail workers."

Co-op took a gamble and it didn't pay off.  I understand they are now looking at drafting in someone called Nathan from Costcutters.

As for John, well, if he wants to stay in Supermarkets then Spar would appear to be the only outlet for him, although I hear he is possibly changing direction and has applied for the vacant post selling white goods in Makro.

Or as Colin Murphy said when interviewed on National TV before one of our televised matches, "As one door opens another door closes........and another door opens".

Eloquent wasn't he?
