I think it was also something to do with the Stunt men too, "Clarkson promised the performances would be full of dangerous stunts. But, asked if he was concerned some of the stuntmen involved could come a cropper, he quipped: “They’re French, so if they get killed it’s not the end of the world"

He also called fans of the show "Apes"
 
I was totally baffled as to why that was constantly bombarded at me on the radio this morning. What a total and utter non-story!

Idiot = Spent 10 years as Cheshire Cats patsy before Blair had good sense to get out when economy growth slowed down & left Brown to take the heat = Fact.

Well done Jezza - although the apology has allowed the press & no-nothing celebrity feck-wits to jump on the band waggon & sensationalise it all.

Although this pales into insignificance against why the political and economic opinions of a fat, Yorkshire, public school educated (but we'll hide that fact as "I am a man of the people", curly-haired, suit jacket with ill-fitting saggy-arsed jeans wearing motoring journalist actually matter in any way.

I enjoy Top Gear, it's a fun show, doesn't take itself too seriously.

However I kind of think the joke's on Clarkson now - being an arrogant, right wing offensive idiot bully really isn't that clever or funny. May and Hammond are far more adept and intelligent presenters. Clarkson's just too predictable.

Given the number of "Ratner" moments he's had, I'm surprised the knives aren't out for him a la Ross/Brand.

Oh yes, just remembered - Top Gear is the number one earning show worldwide for the BBC! Clarkson is the BBC's saviour!!!

Sometimes just because you think something is fact doesn't excuse the way those "facts" have been used, though. I find it deeply unpleasant that once again someone's physical disability has been implicityl linked to their stupidity or other "social disability". What the hell has the fact that he is one-eyed (lost playing rugby, btw) got to do with ANYTHING?

EDIT: In fact it harks back to the sort of mentality that made "spastic" a mocking insult.
