Jet liners

Got it.

a boeing 747 can do;

0 -60 in 1.97 seconds
0 -100 in 3.22 seconds

is that ok?

WooHoo! Is that genuine? Not that I disbelieve it at all but in a plane one has no real way of judging speed. If it were true I wouldn't be too surprised though.

I'm afraid I would guess false. If you have ever been in a car giving it large you will find yourself pinned back in the seat. I have never been slammed that hard by a plane and I have never been in a car that can hit 100 in a little over 3 secs. Sorry to burst your bubble.
In fact a formular 1 race car will do 0-60 in around 2.5ish secs. That will pull around 1G. The initial acceleration of an F1 car will be greater than a jet. I seem to remember Michael Schumacher racing a EuroFighter away from the lights so to speak and being ahead at the half Km stage. So whilst I'm afraid I can't answer your question I think you can safely assume it is slower than many super cars. Passengers would not be happy if you start pulling serious G's on take off.

Not sure if its true - jus seeked askjeeves and found a website and thats what it said. Only good as the page I got it from I am afraid
