Davros

The Whippet
personally i like the bloke, hard worker, family man, and unlike most celeb chefs who just want to make a quick buck, he's actually trying to make a real difference to the country, and the future of a generation. Top Man!

Previous to the school dinners thing I thought he was a prize tool but I am now of the opinion he is a knob with a social consience.

Prize tool. Hate him. This social conscience stuff is bull$hite as well. It's all about him. Aren't I good getting kids off the streets to make them chefs. Aren't I good, helping school dinners improve. It's all about self-promotion.

He puts on the mockney accent as well. I'd like to cut his fat tongue out and shove it up his own ar$e.

In the Naked Chef all this "I'm the geezer about town" crap made me sick as well. Look at me on my scooter, look at me sliding down my bannister , look at me playing basketball. Look at me, look at me, look at me.

Sod off tw&t.

and on top of all that he looks like Oliver Kahn, or Jamie Oliver Kahn.

By the way, I chose nob.

I'm suspicious of any celebrities who adopt causes.

Does anyone think (for example) Chris Martin sells less records or more records because he writes a few fair trade slogans on his hands?

If his 'charitable' efforts hit him personally in the pocket I bet he would would stop at once and start doing adverts for the Tories.

I'm surethat Greg Halford cares for his family - would care for his kids (if he's got them) and is from Essex. So Greg, you must be a good bloke too.

Hey, just because a guy plays for Col U, doesn't mean we have to hate his guts. I only hate the club, not it's staff.

Good call.

I think celebrities endorsing charitable campaigns should be forced to match pound for pound all donations made by the general public.

I'd battle poverty in Africa if it could bankrupt Bono.

I once tried to do a recpie of his.
It was a fry up and you use an egg to mould everything together.
Sausages, and bacon strips, some fresh parsley and finely chopped onions.
On Jamie Olivers show it rolled of the pan complete and looked like a work of art.
Mine looked like the bottom of a pig swill bin.

Tatsed like it as well.

Agreed!

His series in Italy was quality, as was what he was trying to do for kids school dinners.

And when he trained the kids to cook, that was good.

Top bloke!

Thats a bit harsh. I don't disagree about the whole accent thing - why bother, he clearly puts its on to build up a stage character.

However, for what he has done on tv in the social side of things is brilliant. Self promotion? Of course it is but he's doing it for a reason, because he actually does care. Could you see Gordon Ramsey or Gary Rhodes doing a thing like that.

The first project he done was the 'Eleven' restaurant which was funded out of his own pocket, which if I remember from then, nearly made him broke. Surely if he self-funded the project then he's doing it just for everyone to think "look at good old Jamie Oliver doing his thing for the good of the country". Ok, he probably got a huge packet out of the show but why would he continue to start another project afterwards? It doesn't make sense for him just to do it all for self-promotion, the guys heart is in the right place.

Ask youselves this. Would he have done any of his social improvement schemes if the cameras wer'nt present and following his every move???

Very, very doubtful......................nob!

Yes but would he have been able to if he wasn't a celeb? Probably not.

I liked his series about school dinners and you can tell he passionately cares about it. I don't have anything against him.

Exactly. He wouldn't have had the opportunity to do it if he wasn't a celebrity. The projects just would not have worked if it was your average joe in your local toby carvary.

A point well made and one that didn't occur to me!

I stand corrected and suitably ashamed that brain didn't engage before fingers.

We can't on the one hand complain that a lack of decent role models are turning us into a nation of ignorant narrow-minded chavs, then call someone a self-centred publicity seeker when he steps up to the plate and trys to improve our country. Most of our "celebs" and sportsmen just take the money and run - isn't that a lot worse? Why not use your audience to positive effect rather than just to sell a few books?

Look at the way kids play football at weekends now - it's all swearing at the ref and kicking off at eachother or the opposition every 5 minutes - Wayne Rooney has a lot to answer for in my book......

Btw - have to agree on the Chris Martin and Bono thing though - both make me want to puke my guts up every time they fawn about helping Africa etc. They're like rent-a-cause....

Greg Halford is from Chelmsford. On the pitch he is a total nobjockey, even alot of Col Ewe fans disliked him for the best part of last season.

Jamie Oliver doesn't both me by the way; he doesn't get under my skin or makes my blood boil (excuse the pun), unlike some people on here.

So who do you dislike more, Greg Halford or Jamie Oliver Khan?
