Jamie Lawson returns.

DTS

The Business
Back at the club after 3 subs apperances at D&R. Opted to come back and fight for his place.

Hate to say it but think days are numbered for Peanut.

:guns:

i don't know why he bothers.. he aint going to get a game for us so why not stick it out at daggers. billy is showing what he can do and i think tilly would rather get him back than have to play peanut, and that is assuming that freddy, bradbury, harrold and foran are all out

Jamie Lawson, Dave? :p

I think he'll go in the summer, he had a great run in the side last season but not had a chance, this would do well for a L1 or L2 side.

We'll see what happens.

If he cant fight for his place and get one at D&R he certainly wont get one here.

Theres no chance of him getting a game this season and I dont see him having a long future here...

If he was only a sub at D@R I dont think he bolds that well for us.

Seen him in enough reserve teams to know he hasn't got enough ability. He reminds me of Trevor Fitzpatrick, who I had a love-hate relationship with. I hated the fact that he was useless and missed chance after chance for the Blues (minus the equaliser at Blackpool away, at 2-2 on Webb's return).

However I loved the fact that he was so bad he gave me confidence that I could become a pro footballer. The same is true of Lawson. If he gets another contract I'll ask Tilly for a trial I think...

haha like it, lawson actually plays really well when he starts but because it's so rare i think it is just fluke and adrenaline! he'll be on his way out in the summer, returning from being on loan 3 times just says it all.. he doesn't want to put in the hard graft on loan to prove his value and therefore tilly will be better off looking elsewhere

Not seen you play but personally I think its a bit harsh.

I think he has shown some potential and started like a bomb with two goals in his first two games. I think he has not really had the chances he would have liked due to form of the players in his position. I think he would be best going to a tin pot club like Barnet or Orient and getting some games.

I still think he could be a decent lower leagues player.

I think he is a decent young player. He has some great control and has done ok for us in League one.

I wonder whether he has the strength of character to succeed somewhere else, he doesnt seem to like being away from Southend, even if Dagenham is only down the road...

Love It! Exactly what i think, he was like our lil gem when he played a few games in League One last season and banged in a couple of goals...! Then the shock was that West Ham and Charlton were after him...you must be joking...yeah i think they were!

I just can't see it when it comes to James "Bambi on Ice" Lawson... Just doesn't look like a footballer at all. No muscle content whatsoever and never looked truely comfortable on the pitch.

Whereas in Kightly i could see he could become a worthwhile squad member (although i'd never guess he would become as good as he has done), I just can't see how Lawson warrants all this praise from Tilly and Spinner, who labelled him as the most exciting prospect at Southend he'd seen.

Deadweight in my opinion.

Before I start I'd like to make 2 points. 1. I usually don't rise to this kind of argument, but I'm off today so thought what the hell and 2. I do not know Lawson personally nor am I a family friend etc etc ...here goes.

Bloody hell people.

If Lawson was reading this thread, his confidence would take a real battering!

Shouldn't it be praised that he wants to come back and fight for his place? It's quite astonishing that some of you would want to criticise him for trying to do that, especially when we have such a small squad.

Of all the comments though, this is classic:

Yes please do that - in fact Tilly did say a couple of seasons back that if anyone thought they were better than what the current squad could offer, then to go to BootsnLaces for a training session. I'd love to see you try.

A couple of points, firstly why does everybody come up with this argument "if the players were reading this, his confidence, blah blah blah....."? He's supposed to (or wants to, although that could be argued if you've viewed his effort in reserve games) be a Championship footballer. This is a messageboard for fans, not a charity to boost the confidence of lazy/not talented enough footballers. He didn't want to fight for a place at the Daggers, was homesick at Grimsby and wasn't really wanted wherever he's been. Its not harsh its stating a fact, he has neither the hunger nor the ability to make it as a professional football (IMO). He's not fighting for his place at RH, Eastwood, Bradbury, Harrold, Sam, Hooper and even Paynter are ahead of him.

It was tongue in cheek about my ability...

Shall we all hold hands or maybe send a good luck card in the post to him....

ITS A MAN'S GAME - GROW UP. THIS IS A PROFESSIONAL INDUSTRY - IT SHOULD BE RAN AS ONE!

i like lawson. think he had a decent season last year. he's proper up is own **** out of football but i think he's a decent player. if we stay up this season i think he will be sold. if we go down i think we may keep him. he's not a championship striker for deffinate

Lawson was our best forward pre-season.

If Tilly had picked on form rather than reputation he'd have started the season up front.

He still needs toughening up, but at least he's not a midget.

Like Hooper, I'd give him a 2 year deal and try and fix him up with a year long loan.

hes got no chance of getting in the squad. he needs eastwood, foran, bradbury, harrold, paynter, hooper all to get injured or suspended. he should do what kightly did and leave to a smaller club to improve. kightly wouldnt of been as good as he is if he stayed at us because he wasnt getting the games.
